Re: Jap 5spd + clutch + flywheel convertion questions.

How do you tell the 2 different input shafts for the KM132? Are the Wide different from the Narrow, or is it something different? I am definitely going for a KM132, never again will I get a BW with detachable gear stick.

Re: 4g63t evo 4 into sigma

The guy at City Dismantlers said that he'd seen an EVOIV+ engine in a RWD car, but it's the same guy that was telling me there was 4 different ECUs for the TR/TS magna, and they are that different that plugging the wrong one in to the wrong car/loom would fry it.

Re: Jap 5spd + clutch + flywheel convertion questions.

Next time I go to U-Pull-It, I might have a look at the Magnas, and take some measurements. Probably wont be for a while since I spend too much while I am there. I'll be going with a second hand clutch for now, and may get a new one later. I was just thinking that a new Magna clutch kit might be eas...

Jap 5spd + clutch + flywheel convertion questions.

I currently have a 2.6L Auto GN that I want to put a Jap 5spd into. I already know that I'd need to find a narrow block version which came with a 2L Sigma or Scorpion. That is only part of the conversion. What I am asking is would the flywheel and clutch kit from the same 2L Sigma and Scorpion fit b...

Re: Cottees' Sigma GN Build

I have read the problem with heat soak with the water/air intercoolers. I still have some time to decide on what I am going to choose to go with. I just thought that a top mount water intercooler would eliminate a heap of piping, and also avoid having to run 3" pipes to the front of the car. If...

I made a quick google sketchup of the top of the Astron II, intake plenum and the Water/Air Intercooler I was looking at. It looks like it would fit, but the bonnet might be too low. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/Cottees/Sigma/wtaintercooler1.jpg http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/C...

While the head is off, why not replace the pistons with strengthened ones, and get the conrods and crank shaft balanced?

Re: Cottees' Sigma GN Build

Test fitting a Magna bracket to support the weight of the large intake. Attaching this bracket with the Sigma bolt that attached the engine mount to the block with result in the bracket being too close to the engine, and wont match up with the bottom of the intake. A longer bolt from the Magna with ...

Re: Awkward jobs

A friend has a Mitsubishi 3000GT with DOHC 6G72. The engine bay looks to be only just big enough to fit the engine. To change the rear 3 spark plugs, you need to remove the intake manifold first. Just the position of the engine make it look like there would be plenty of awkward things when servicing...

Thanks for the heads up. One reason for posting about my build is to get feedback about it. I was thinking of moving the accelerator cable to a bracket that is mounted to the rocker cover. With the advice you have given, I'll definitely be doing that.

Re: Is a Sigma manual steering box the same as a Scorpion?

Where about are you located? In SA there is U-Pull-It, and there is plenty of Sigmas and Scorpions. I think the other states have places that are the same. I am not 100% sure, but I think that many of the Sigma parts will fit the Scorpion, and vice versa.

Re: Cottees' Sigma GN Build

Interesting idea! I didn't even think of doing it like that. It would probably work, but I would need the piping to go the way it is if I plan to go with forced induction. If I get time tomorrow, I might try rotating the adapter 180 and see how it fits. Speaking of forced induction, I found this Air...

My Commodore decided to dump most of it's coolant on North Tce in Adelaide, so it gave me an excuse to do car stuff, and go to Super Cheap Auto. I got a couple things like some bolts for the intake that'll try out later, and a couple intake piping stuff that was on clerance. I got a 3" to 2.5&q...

I had seen this info before, but I keep losing it. So I thought that the best place for info like that was on here. I was looking for it again cause I wanted to see what my engine was. That engine number is pretty much what my engine is, except for the 5 digit serial.

With a MegaSquirt II with V3 board, you could use it to control just about anything, you just need the electrical know how.

You can use the RX7 transmission, but the transmission is slanty.

I have seen a pic somewhere that someone slanted the engine so the RX7 transmission would sit level. I think there is other mods to fix this though.

In SA, if I read it correctly, you can swap an engine without a engineers certificate, so long as it is newer, and not larger than the largest engine that was available for that model. I think it also said that if you have a car with emissions control, you have to install emissions control for the n...

What you said isn't that harsh. If you paid any other business for a service that they completed unsatisfactorily, they would have to remedy it no matter what was happening in there personal life, so why shouldn't they?
