Re: Gear stick keeps coming off
Interesting tidbit if info, I had auto ratios, cant remember off the top of me head what they are, but in top at approx. 5000 rpm I wound off the clock. Over 210 klm/h. 8o| 1st gear could net me 75 - 80 klm/h at red line. ;sigh; I miss my ol' Corty now  More than likely a 2.78:1 in your cortin...

Nice, that'll fix the the gear shifter - now what about the rest of the crappy gearbox? Funny enough I have a BW in my Sigma and it has done a couple of state race rounds ( IPRA ), some hillclimbs and sprints the gear box has never missed a beat and the shifta ( which has a nice plastic threa...

Hi Cheater, If I could get 120kw atw that would be more than satisfactory, in fact that would be awesome!!!! That's double what I'm getting out of the current motor. My plan would be: Ported Head, O/S valves, you can get 1 mm OS Stainless Steel inlet and exhaust that will cut straight into the std ...

Hi, Doing my home work on a potential new engine for my GD Galant Rally Car. I am required by CAMS PRC (Production Rally Car) regs to run a engine variant fitted to my model at production. information I've found says the biggest engine fitted was the 4G52 Aston in the Japanese models. Therefore I m...

Re: Educate me on Astrons.
Excellent, thank you. This leads to a few more questions: Which of the later heads offers the best flow? For a NA motor making around 100kW ATW, is there any reason to use an Astron1 block? Can the later hydraulic rockers be converted to solid? the M6-7 have the highest flow however the M8-9 are a ...

a speco MS344 ( Billit cam of cause )
in 45 / 75 ex 85 / 45 with 267 deg @ 0.050" lift --
its quite a nice wide range cam on the 2.6 that runs ok from about 2000 rpm
and starts to move well once past 3000 and was making Max power at 6100 of cause it runs through to and past 7000 fairly quickly

Re: Astron 1 head swap
The only negative is you will also need to get an adjustable cam gear and pack out the hydraulic tensioner to compensate for the extra chain length. as Scott has said shaving the head needs an adjustable cam gear - you retard the cam timing about 1 deg or 2 crank degs for each mm you remove from th...

Re: New high flow thermostats.
Hi guys, I noticed this today at Supercheap - Tridon have released new high flow thermostats. They have a larger thermostat seat that appears to be 30% bigger than the standard. If you want to improve your coolant flow, take some load off your water pump and possibly reduce fuel consumption in the ...

Much less tollerance of head warp then im guessing? There's not that much difference in price between known, good quality oil & "cheap stuff" ... so I use the good stuff & change it regularly (every 2 or 3 events). Cheap insurance I reckon. The day I can't afford to spend $40-odd on oil a couple of times a year, it's time to stop r...

Re: Help. How to back off the timing chain on a 4g52
if you undo the big bolt at the front of the dizzy drive gear ( 22 AF socket from memory ) the gear pulls off and should sit on a sheet metal sadle
then you can drop the cam out
just do the reverse on assemble there is enough give in the chain tentioner to lift the gear back onto the cam

Re: LPG Turbo and Other Questions
ive heard that the 2.4 destroker makes more power over 7000 Why ? my understanding on offsetting the bores is you get more leverage on the crank at the moment of ignition (ie: instead of the piston and rod being dead vertical above the crank relying on the inertia of the flywheel to pull it all aro...

Is this for a road car ? If so, it's probably a WOFTAM & won't make any meaningful difference to the handling. Strut braces can be useful in rally cars to stop the strut towers moving under severe punishment, or in circuit cars where chassis stiffness is likely to be important. No point in a ro...

I am guessing then that it isn't the same BW as used by XE-AU Falcon, VB-VR Commodore and R31 Skyline? If it was they would be hot property considering the massive range of ratios and LS centres that would be available. the sigma ran a smaller BW diff than the Commodare/falcon - and yes they break ...
