Re: Gippsland Park Hillclimb
Do you head out to Morwell much mate? Seems like a great time compared to many of what I've seen on youtube. I was a Member of the Gippsland Car Club from 1999 till about 2005 or 6 and yes I run there quite a bit , my Sigma was well known to anyone around at that time The Morwell track took a bit t...

Re: Flywheels Narrow v Wide
Well thats just poo then. So basically even if I buy a conversion kit the only thing that'll be good to me is the box? I was hoping I could get away with just changing the bellhousing. if you were going to change the bellhousing the box would need to be a Borg Warner if so the clutch splines are th...

Re: how much did you pay for your engine?
The Triton has plenty of torque down low so it won't be a problem taking off with a heavy load. Cheers. the 2.6 has plenty of bottom end even with a lot of work , in fact the fastest times my car pulled around Sandown it only used 3rd and 4th gears for the whole circuit the slowest corner on the ci...

Re: Another engine for the Triton.
The main aim of the porting was to get the port sizes more even from the manifold to the combustion chamber. From a few of the shots of the ports, you can still see some of the casting marks. Going bigger in diameter would help the top end but there would be a big penalty to pay, losing low down to...

I like it -- 50 mm inlets will run nicely with the 42 mm inlet ports is there enough clearance between the valve on overlap - have you checked them with them both opened say a couple of mm The exhaust seat is recessed an extra 1mm to help with that. I'm checking it today with the MS334 Speco cam bu...

Re: Design me a 4g54 speedway engine?
Cheers for the replies guys, lots to think about. no class restrictions here as its a private track but we may have to make some of our own rules up to keep it equal. thats simple first look at safety thats works out the first set of rules --- and then maybe work the classes into basic size of engi...

Re: Design me a 4g54 speedway engine?
Rules for this exercise - no efi, no turbo, budget needs to be reasonable We are thinking the 4g54 + Tr magna head, plus the usual balance shafts/flywheel. What sort of cam would you guys run? Head work? What compression? Pistons? Oil work considering the flogging these engines get? Recommend a mac...

Re: 4G54 Turbo Suck Through Setup?
I don't really care about getting a certain power figure or anything, the plan was to just get some easy power haha. @cheaterparts How do you figure the stock carb would burn a hole in the piston? (sorry I don't know a lot about draw through setups). I was thinking if I could get a turbo bolted up ...

Re: 4G54 Turbo Suck Through Setup?
Yeah I know getting factory parts would be the easiest but I rarely see them and I was planning on entering a event at my local track later on in the year. I believe my idea would work I just would have to figure out the oil and water lines, the rest is pretty self explanatory. Would the stock carb...

Re: BW 35 GK Sigma - What fluid
What fluid should go into a '84 GK Sigma borg warner auto? Dextron? Also is there any adjustments that can be made while the pan is off? Its a bit clunky under heavy shifts and generally a bit crap (lots of ks), the fluid also looks a bit brown/red and gross. Long time since I adjusted up a BW 35 b...

Yeah, that will be fine .... mine is 15A or 20A wire I think. It's not "essential" to separately earth the head, but not a bad idea (the head gasket effectively makes it not earthed through the block, or at least poorly earthed). head gasket would make little difference the head bolts are...

Hi all, Just curious if anyone has done/ tried or if it's at all possible to put a JA starion rear end ( diff, brakes, suspension etc ) into an LC lancer? I'm pretty sure they are an independent rear suspension system which would improve the handling of the lancer heaps, as well as having an LSD et...

Anything under 5800rpm is considered to be too low :P Strangely enough I always found it was better to launch having the clutch right out by 3000 rpm on the hillclimb starts that was using sticky street rubber yokohama 32Rs or 48rs that gave the best launch for the least spin as it was just off the...

just off the top of my head you would need about a 4.6:1 diff running those revs @ 100 ksMerv wrote:I don't know what ratio is in the gsr but it does 3k rpm in 5th at 100kph
4.6 x .86 = 3.95 over all ratio --- whats the diff out of
I run a 3.89:1 and its a bit over 200 Kph at 7000 in 4th
