Re: Sirius DOHC
Another option for extractors, but would require modding, are off a Hyundai Lantra. Find a cheap set and start cutting and welding. Heres what a standard set look like fitted to a 4G61, managed to pick them up for $10 which would be cheaper then buying just the flange to build a set from scratch. ht...

Re: My GC Hardtop project
I had the exact same problem with the Jay Racing setup, with a standard VR4 waterpump pulley. I ended up cutting the adaptor apart and having a piece of alloy pipe welded in so that it now comes out off the head at a 30degree angle. http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/408362_3862571885127_...

Re: My GC Hardtop project
How come you went to the effort changing the belt, pulleys and so on, but left the old balance shaft belt?
2.0 Sigma flywheel will bolt straight on, and I've also had to use a Sigma starter motor as the VR4 one was tight against the block as the positioning is slightly different.

LOL. The worst I have done is starting a car up after adjusting the valves, not realising that I still had a ratchet attached to the front pulley. Almost shit myself when it started straight up with the most horrible rattling sound i have ever heard. Poor ratchet was working overtime as the handle c...

yeah, that is Craigus's old Galant. I've already tossed the engine mounts, but heres how the bellhousing was modified to move the engine forward. I wouldn't recommend it, the drag link rubbed on the flywheel if you tried to turn full lock. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g275/c_fernance/bellhousin...

Re: Best 14" tyre size for standard GD auto gearing
I'm pretty sure my dad and myself worked out that 185/60/14 worked out the closest match to the factory size when he put 14's on his blue hardtop. The overall diameter works out pretty close to the 195/50/15's that myself and a lot of others use when running 15's as well.
Re: Rings?
I know there are different thinkness rings available. From memory some compression rings are 1.5mm thick, and others are 2mm thick. I just can't remember when the change was.

Re: Ever lost the keys to your Sig/Galant?
Takes me about 10 seconds for any Scorp. Libby locked her keys in a few weeks ago, and I had to go save her. Walked straight to the drivers door and before she had even finished her sentence on how she locked them in I was in. I used to do it a bit at my old house as it was easier then walking from ...

Only if you can find one of the early GE's which had a 8 bolt Jap diff. They were available with a 3.545:1 and 3.908:1 for a short while before changing to the borg warner diff. The GE Scorpions also used the smaller 8 bolt Jap diffs so if you can find an automatic one that has the original diff if ...

Re: What web site do you search for parts?
Buying from ebay depends on the actual seller. Having a good look at their feedback and selling history will give you a good idea if they are legit, quality, postage times, etc. In other news I bought my first item off Yahoo Japan last week via Import Monster. An EX Lancer LSD diff is now on it's wa...

Re: whitewall or paint letters
To me it would depend on the style of the car and how you intend driving it.
If it looks fast and you plan on practicing for Bathurst whenever you are behind the wheel then go the letters.
If it fairly standard looking or grandma spec, and you just want to cruise around then put whitewalls on it.

They're JA Starion rims. Around 1982/83. I don't think these rims were available on the US Starions, but you could try checking out the for sale section on Austarion and see if someone could ship them over to you.

Re: New head not wot i thought
Your new head is for an Astron II, while it sounds like your original one is an Astron I. Whilst they can be used they are designed to be used with different pistons. Putting on as is will result in a low compression engine with poor/sluggish performance. Ideally you would need to change to a set of...

Re: My GC Hardtop project
Is it making the noises when turning, or just when you were going straight? It's possible that the pinion, crownwheel etc may have been damaged and the actual LSD centre itself is still OK. It may have even bent the diff housing. If the LSD centre is OK, then the rest of it is pretty easy to find re...

The starion spring will fit straight into a GJ, GK or GL Scorp, but not the earlier models. Standard Starion springs are lower then the standard Scorp springs, but most aftermarket ones will probably use the same springs for both cars.

The whole car was set up for rallying. I can only assume they were trying to get a heap more power out of it while still having the driveability, cold starting and so on of EFI.

That was all the reason you needed to send it back. 2x20 fuses so it can draw a max of 40 amps. At 12 volts, thats 480watts. No where near 5600, or even 560W "RMS".mstrrab1992 wrote:I bought a powervox 5600 watt amp off ebay for $65....

I've been in a Sigma at 220kph. That was scary enough for me. They aren't really designed for those speeds. They wander around from side to side if there is even the slightest amount of play anywhere in the steering, the slightest bump unsettles the car, and so on. You would be wanting to rebuild th...

Re: 200mph Sigma
Weight isn't really the big issue when looking at going the fast across the salt. It only really effects acceleration. I'd be more worried about drag and aerodynamic efficiency. At those sort of speeds every exposed nut or even panel gaps on the front end can make a difference.
