Re: Matt's Red GN

The inside of the heater box was freaking diguisting. It was very difficult to stop myself from scraping the lot out with my tongue. http://i.imgur.com/24lSEs3.jpg I decided I had more degreaser than saliva anyway. http://i.imgur.com/BG8wsxn.jpg I soaked the old foam off with thinners and used a wir...

Re: Matt's Red GN

Not many updates of late; but anyway, here I go. I'll pretend it's even worthwhile. I had to enlarge the piping holes in the support. They are getting fairly large now. I used a drill nibbler attachment to remove most of the metal. http://i.imgur.com/85dw3gB.jpg This looked like a good place for the...

Re: 4G54 Clutch upgrade

NPC has quoted me $998 including GST for a flywheel and organic clutch. Apparently the use a 10" gtr sized clutch as the factory unit is just nowhere near large enough to work well without a button type clutch and horrible pedal feel. I think this is unfortunately a bit excessive for my budget ...

Re: 4G54 Clutch upgrade

Seller cancelled the order about 10 days after I made it. Was expecting to be receiving the item not a refund. If he let me know sooner I would definitely be a lot less pissed than I am now. I'm looking at this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXEDY-HEAVY-DUTY-CLUTCH-KIT-MITSUBISHI-SIGMA-2-6L-GK-GN-1984-8...

Re: 4G54 Clutch upgrade

I've done a little bit of research and there appear to be 2 different diameters and every other property is the same. The two diameters are Disc Outer Diameter: 9 7/16" = 239.7125 millimeters Disc Outer Diameter: 8 13/16" = 223.8375 millimeters This is actually a triton 4g64 flywheel but i...

Re: 4G54 Clutch upgrade

Getting closer the getting the Sigma back on the road and I remeber that last time I drove it I was playing with an EBC and the clutch was slipping up steep hills in 4th everywhere. I think I need to dive in and take the risk. With the two different type starion clutches, where is the difference? Is...

4G54 CAS wiring

I was asked what the wiring is for the 4G54 CAS. Here is how i figured it out. I used this to wire up to my megasquirt for trigger wheel wasted spark operation. Ideally you'd only use the CYL1 TDC pickup and install a 36-1 wheel on the crank for optimum timing accuracy. You can see the timing config...

Re: Matt's Red GN

Heater core was definitely gone. This also confirms that GK heater cores are exactly the same despite what the ebay seller told me. http://i58.tinypic.com/2cr298i.jpg Next problem with the heater is the valve. It does not work at all. I have got a universal unit but it will not easily fit. I think i...

Re: Matt's Red GN

I have an unused pair of guard lowers here. Bought them from a company that was clearing out some of their old stock, so I got the pair for $10 They say GJ Sigma on them, but I'm fairly sure they would suit a GN too if you want them for the $10 +postage. I will take you upon that. I have another go...

Last night I bogged around the windscreen. I also filed out the clip holes for the vents. I then got sick of it and watched a movie. Bad form.

At least I don't feel like scrapping it any more.

Not much to report. Waiting on advice from my spraypainter mate about what to do next. I need to fill the pitting that is left with some sort of filler. Not sure if I should use bog or some sort of epoxy.

Last major rust I'm worrying about. The guards need work too but hopefully I can just rust convert and fill them.
