Re: Marty's GA Build
Well i didn't know there was a difference from GA to GB, thanks for that it's certainly something to think about. I was aware of the extension housing variations, from my understanding i need a GE GH Sigma or any lancer narrow block box. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1944/43299414720_9fd2e0bfd3.jpg...

Re: Marty's GA Build
Thanks Tandanas, appreciate all the kind words.
As for the cross member i can't tell you, i don't actually have a 5 speed or cross member as of yet. I have read a few of the threads on here and lots of people have mentioned it as an issue so we will see. I'll keep you posted.
Cheers,
Marty

Re: Marty's GA Build
After the rust had been taken care of i stripped and painted all the inner guards and behind the grill will POR15. If you're not aware of POR15 it's an anti rust paint and claims to create a mechanical barrier to rust versus a chemical system most other brands use. It's pretty expensive but does go ...

Thanks for that. I have noticed a bit of surface rust around the battery tray but it doesn't look like it should be anything too major. Re: Marty's GA Build
Thanks mate i appreciate it. I'm not really sure how far i'm going to go with the paint, i haven't had a lot of experience with painting but i'm definitely keen to learn so we will see how i go. The next thing i started looking at was the various rust spots around the car. I did a bit of research on...

Re: Marty's GA Build
The plan for the car was to keep it what i would call relatively original. So freshen up a 4g32, fit Jap 5 speed, repair the rust to the best of my abilities, body work and paint. Sounds easy when you condense it into one sentence  One of the first few things i started looking at was sourcing...

Marty's GA Build
I have owned this car for many years and whether i like it or not it has become a build/ project car. I purchased the 1971 GA Galant of a lady owner who bought it ex demo in Broken Hill and at some point moved to Adelaide. The car is pretty honest and a part from some minor front end damage (which h...

4G32 Electronic Ignition Conversion & Distributor ID
So i'm looking to upgrade to an electronic ignition and i'm having trouble finding a suitable unit. I have found Pertronix(91943) and AccuSpark(JFU4) units which could possibly fit one of my distributors but there aren't any part numbers which match exactly. Has anyone used these products? and if so...

4G32 Chain Drive Block Identification, extra galleries?
Hey Guys, I have been putting a 4G32 together for my GA, i went to bolt the head down only to find three extra galleries which don't match any of my heads (EGR and pre EGR) or gaskets (115 or 125mm) I got the bottom end off one of the guys on the forum and it apparently came out of an LB Lancer. Aft...

I used king springs KHFL-116. They aren't listed for galant' s but worked in my GA.

Re: Marty's 71 GA Galant
So there has been a little progress on the GA, mainly buying stuff. Recently i purchased some GTO/AIIGS fender mirrors of Trade Me NZ. The new 4G32 bottom end is together. I also bought and scrapped an extremely rusty colt. http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p355/Martin71GA/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0062...

Re: GA Seats SOMEONE ....ANYONE?
I put GC seats in my GA on low back rails and from memory i did have to re drill a couple holes or something but it was nothing major.
It was only temporary and have since gone back to the low backs.
Cheers,

Re: Can a 4G30 be taken up to 1600.
I'm currently running a re conned 4g32 head on the 4g30 so the head is not a problem and at very worst would it would only need a facing. I was planning on using the internal gear from the spare 4g32(assuming it all looks good) in the 4g30. So with that all aside the extra money would be boring and ...

Re: Can a 4G30 be taken up to 1600.
Thanks for your reply Dave and to answer one of your questions no i'm not looking to spend heaps of money. What specifically would cost more than a standard rebuild if you are going give it a bore etc. anyway? I definitely agree with the potential for problems and i guess that's why i'm asking the q...

Can a 4G30 be taken up to 1600.
Okay so i'm currently looking at doing a 4g32 for my Galant, i have the original 4g30 in the car and a spare 4g32 to rebuild. Originally i was planning on swapping the engines but is it possible to increase a 4g30 to 1600? I realize the 4g32 has larger bore, different pistons, longer stroke and long...

Re: Marty's 71 GA Galant
They are 13x6's but it's increasingly hard to get different sizes tyres.
From my investigating you can only get 185 60 13 and 205 60 13.
Unfortunately 185 65 13 are no longer available (except for old stock) along with 195's.
Cheers,
Marty
