Curing the Astron's woeful timing(chain) waltz - with a belt
]Just wondering how the high horsepower fellas cure the astron of its timing.....uncertainty, ya know try to time an astron that still has its dizzy and the best you can do is take an average for timing as it walks all over the place.Surely this would spell disaster on a boosted engine? My thoughts ...

A motorcraft Variable Venturi 7200 twin barrel. Ford never offered (that I'm aware )needle an...

Re: Thinking of 4g52
Heh certainly, otherwise domed pistons would be useless. And diesel engines that have no significant in head combustion chamber couldn't achieve 22:1 as they do. Its well known in the holden world that if you want a high compression holden 6 you use a 138-161 red head on a 179-202 engine as it uses ...

I've read on these forums that it has a smaller combustion chamber to raise the compression up to somewhere near 11.5:1
Ah I see the confusion I've said blown instead of direct petrol injection. Apologies. Will edit.

Re: Tech question. Why dont exaust valve stems run dry/coke
That makes total sense. Cooled by a waterjacket around the guide. So I'm guessing on a petrol engine on the intakes they understandably cannot keep petrol out of the guides, so they must utilise it as a form of lubrication and reduce via the stem seals the amount of oil admitted to keep things in or...

A tr fuel rail doesindeedfit on a tp intake. I did it on my rwd conversion. I understood the tn intakes to be narrow port tho, so idk there. Would you like some pix?

Tech question. Why dont exaust valve stems run dry/coke up
Ok, so my question goes something like this: if we know for example that we need to add a bottle of moreys to properly lubricate intake valves when a gas conversion is done, we are told this is because a gaseous fuel is insufficient to lubricate the intake valve stems and will wear them out. My ques...

For convenience in measuring the difference, I made up a set of giant wooden calipers that I could get underneath the car with and measure fhe distance from bottom boltholes. Works a treat.

Re: 96mm over bore
Hmm it still could be possie on a road car.... 96mm with the std bores would shed alot of heat into the coolant.. And very possibly cavitate on the outer bore surfaces... You could solve the heatshed (but not powerloss) by a waterless coolant, the aussie w.c. or evans. Secondly, your rings would hav...
