Re: Sigma Overheating.... Ahhhh!
I don't think it's flowing. The water must be stagnant, getting hot and the hot water is rising. I would bypass heater, remove thermostat, I would even empty the water, put a litre in and start it, slowly adding more water until full ( to avoid an air pocket.) It should be splashing around at the ra...

Re: Sigma Overheating.... Ahhhh!
I'm going to throw another wild guess at ya.
Have u checked the heater radiator under the dash? Or at least bypass it for testing.
Also, isn't there a head gasket that blocks a water jacket if the wrong one is used?

Re: Sigma Overheating.... Ahhhh!
Take your radiator cap off and stick a coke bottle filled with water upside down in the radiator, so it's free standing. Then start your car and run till it's hot. Check for air bubbles going into the bottle. Even tho a new head gasket, it could be leaking again, or a crack.

Re: gear reduction starter motor
Sigma auto is 8 tooth and manual is 9. And TS magna reduction starters throw out to far and will miss the flywheel most of the time.
I'm on my 5th starter in 20k km's and still looking for one that works. My head is getting sore from banging it on the wall.

I used to cut the gear stick in half then drill out the rubber inside it. Then slide the top of the stick up through the bottom. Then u have a shorter stick with the thread.

Re: Is my dizzy a tooth out? (pic)
Well I moved it a tooth so it was like the picture above. Tried to start my car and imploded my starter motor. Don't know WTF happened but it wasn't to good. So a new starter and moved it back a tooth to where it was. I will play around with it more on the weekend. My car feels gutless and are hopin...

Re: Is my dizzy a tooth out? (pic)
Using ems8860. Not magna ecu. Just check whether the ECU is set to rising or falling edge trigger.. That alone can send out the timing by up to 90 cam degrees. Cheers. That rising/falling edge trigger stuff is pretty technical stuff. Just had a bit of a read bout it. If it is set to either rising o...

Re: Is my dizzy a tooth out? (pic)
Using ems8860. Not magna ecu. And use 98 premium fuel. I guess I was hoping someone could compare it to theirs. Because when I put a dizzy cap with leads on it, one lead is almost centre to the plug on the top. But as it is now, when on top dead center, the rotor is not pointing to any lead. It is f...

Re: Is my dizzy a tooth out? (pic)
I don't know what a locked dizzy is. It was in the for sale description under ignition. (below) http://www.sigma-galant.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=6210 It does not have vacuum advance. I thought they have those weights to advance the timing. And from memory, I thought the lock nut on dizzy would b...

Is my dizzy a tooth out? (pic)
Just after a bit of advice... Below is a pic of my distributor with engine at tdc. It has a locked dizzy with no rotor or leads on it. So I put on a spare rotor for the photo. It is a magna head and dizzy in my LA Lancer. It pings where it is set in photo. http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z378/ur...

Re: Scorpion 1978 GE Timing Chain Rattle
Dunno if this is a common way to replace chain or not... I used to find the joining link on the chain, join the new chain to the old chain and rotate the engine with your fingers holding the chains on the teeth of the cog until joining link is back at the top. Then remove the old chain from link and...

So I went to the wreckers today. Got an adjustable rocker rack and a cam from a gk ciggy. Astron 1. All looks and feels the same except the first cam bearing journal. It has a hole and mine has a groove. might try swapping them around. The cam will go to get machined ready to swap into my engine. Am...
