Re: what galant parts
The engine and gearboxes are somewhat compatible. Also some of the front brake and suspension components from the early sigma's can be used as an upgrade. And I think the front seats may bolt directly in and I think the window winders are identical to the early sigma models. Maybe also the front hea...

Re: My GC Hardtop project
Yeah he has the superlight style rims on it now. Those other pics are about 2 years old but they showed the different styling better then some of the others i have here. And also it is definitely not an aussie model as there are too many little differences, like things like the chrome door sill trim...

really liking that "hockey stick" trim beneath the side glass (H) http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk91/woops1234/IMG_1764.jpg is that jdm or? Jamie seems to think it's a JDM feature but in his many brochures has never seen one with the same trim. The car was definitely an import as it ...

His shop is literally 2 min down the road from me so I should be able to check out some of the things if people wanted any info. That's if it's the phils rotarys place or something like that. Although that hardtop grill is tempting for my coupe. The tail lights are definitely genuine as I know Jamie...

Re: Whats in the small metal box mounted in the Boot...
I actually had a fuel tank in my sigma wagon inflate so much that it bulged out and punctured the side of the tank. The one way valve to vent air from the tank started working in reverse and caused the damage. Wasn't too happy to have to find a new tank at the wreckers to replace it. It's not just a...

All Japanese Classic Day 2011 20th Feb Qld Australia
Hey all. Here is just a heads up for the small number of Queensland members around of the classic jap show coming up in about a month. It's the one they have at Banyo on the northside of Brissie and the last one I was at had about a 100 to 200 cars on show. It'd be nice to see some more old school m...

Re: GD front fenders on a GB Galant?
I just compared some GD guards i have here against the GB and they definitely will not fit. The bolt holes line up and it looks as though it would fit but the door contour but the GD guard is about 15 cm longer and overhangs the front substantially. GA and GB guards are the same and the GC and GD gu...

Re: tubbys GN panel van project
Looking good there. Just a hint for the headlights wiring. I hope you haven't thrown out your old GN headlights as inside them there is the right plugs and wiring for the sealed beam units. It makes it a simple plug and play unit. I think the bumper bar indicators have different plugs so you may hav...

Re: GA-GD use Same Steering Bits or ???
There is definately a difference between the Ga-Gb and the GC-GD ball joints. The GA-GB are a smaller hole on the steering arm and using the wrong ball joint would be bad for either situation. The later model ball joint in the early model only allows for a couple of turns of the nut and doesn't give...

Re: What web site do you search for parts?
I take a look on eBay Aus and US and also trademe but looking anywhere just becomes logistically too difficult. There isn't too much that you can't get on those sites that you would be able to get anywhere else. Yes Yahoo Japan may have heaps of good stuff but it's logistically too difficult to get ...

Take a look at the back of the carby, the side that faces the firewall and where the accelerator attaches. Up near the top would be a holley logo, well there is on mine.

Does it definitely say Weber on the carbie? I know that there was also a 180 holley which was essentially a copy of the weber too. I have one on a parts car down the back that looks to be exactly the same as your carb.

Re: Identifying Astron Heads
I have a M26 head here that came out of a late 87 sigma wagon. It seems to have the same specs as the Sigma Astron II and the engine No. corresponds to a 87 block so I guess that at the late stage of the sigma's they were using different heads all over the place. Or this might have been a replacemen...

Take a look at the www.DBA.com.au website and it seems to show they are having a sale on the rear rotors for 27.83 each. Although it seems as though they are sold out. It might be worth a try to get in contact with them about a set, especially at that price if they are still available. Otherwise RDA...

Re: Shipping motor from melbourne to brisbane
You would be probably be best to get it strapped down to a pallet and sent via courier. If you did that you would either need to have access to a forklift or order a tail lift truck (which usually costs extra). It may not be worth the expense of getting it transported up here vs finding one locally....

Re: KM132 internals into KM110 case?
I know that some people have gone to the effort of putting the Starion internals into the narrow 5-speed gearbox. There is a little machining but it's a bit easier then re boring the block for a wide pattern. I haven't heard of anyone doing the 5 to 4 speed though.

I've got a wagon the same as that but in no where near the same condition. Very neat ride. I don't think I have ever seen a 2.0L GN sigma, especially a wagon. I was under the impression that they were all 2.6L engines until out of curiosity I checked out the parts manual. And yes they do exist but t...

Re: Magna EFI on 4G52?
The thing with the excel is that they are only about 900 kg's vs the sigma 1200 or so kg's If you wanted fuel economy then i would suggest chucking an excel motor into a galant or lancer. It would probably end up being an exercise of false economy though. The work involved in making everything work ...

Re: tubbys GN panel van project
I reakon that a set of XB-XC falcon Bonnet vents would be a better option. I have a set on my wagon almost on there and I personally think they are one of the best options. Especially for the style of vehicle you are building up there. Also the XB bonnet is pretty much the same width as the sigma bo...

Re: Front wheelhubs on Sigma Struts to suit any front disk
well you'd have to agree that a disc brake XA hub would be piss weak compared to the trailer hubs, I have XA hubs on my sigma and they're a lot thinner where the studs go, plus theres no ribbing anywhere on them and they're soft as shit and if you go back and read my post with the link you'll notic...

Re: Front wheelhubs on Sigma Struts to suit any front disk
The only way to be legally sure is for an engineer to sign off on it. The trailer hub appears to be a bit thicker then the factory hubs but you would have to do testing to work out the material properties and strength. I doubt that would end up being cheap at all to get done comercially. Maybe if yo...

Re: LC Lancer hatch. AKA "Larry"
Are you sure the mirrors are both right ones. The one on Dave's orange lancer looks to be the factory style which are interchangeable from right to left. Just move the mirror angle. Otherwise the auto stores sell chromed plastic ones which are pretty similar. Or look for one from one of the valiant ...

Re: Chrome Pepper Pot wheels??
I haven't ever heard of people chroming their pepper pots due to the fact that the aluminium can be polished up to a mirror finish with a bit of elbow grease. Wouldn't mind knowing how much chroming would be but I would think it'd be a fair bit more than polishing. Although it means you wouldn't hav...

There were only a limited number of HKS tuned Jackie Chan Starions produced so this is a pretty rare car. Also you wouldn't get a widebody starion in Australia for less than 10 to 12 grand. This is a pretty rare car in pretty good nick so the asking price isn't that far fetched, but you would only g...
