Re: Cool and Ugly at the same time - The Colt Bakkie
i reckon I can see a little heritage from that colt in the L200. Japan at the time really was only designing cars as big as they needed to be -funny to think there were utes and vans even smaller. Wasn't there a 360cc 'minica' or something? I'd say go all out on this one. Complete bare metal repair ...

Re: My collection is complete :D
Not so sure now, after speaking to the paint shop he thinks it will lift of in under 2 years. Also, if I use matte clear it will have a rough finish and be an ass to keep clean, plus he said it will go chalky in no time Keeping it clean wouldn't matter with that look anyhow? I voted no, though i li...

man, i just had a look at the full collection of pics you have on photobucket -has it been sitting outside that whole 6 yrs without a windscreen?
If you can bring her back to life, that would be epic. What are your plans for colour at this stage? It's a factory silver GTO, right?

i think there's also mixed opinion regarding whether a brake master cylinder from a 4 wheel disc brake sigma is also needed. The brake balance is different theoretically. i have a disc rear axle still to fit to my GE wagon but i'm still slightly concerned that hitting the anchors while cornering wou...

Re: wheels for my wagon
The Supra 4 spokes would give a similar effect to the widebody starion rims above but not look as beefy. I think the 4 spokes may be too recognisable as a Toyota rim, though. People dis Rotas sometimes but I'm sure they're be fine as long as you don't power-drift into curbs. I reckon something like ...

Re: wheels for my wagon
I'm not a big fan of big chromies but your wagon carries those 17s quite well -i think the lighter colour helps. There's quite a lot out there in 4x114.3 these days and getting new wheels in custom sizes, offset and PCD is so much cheaper than it used to be -so i wouldn't be changing stud pattern un...

Top buy! Looks in great condition too. I wonder what the history of the white painted roof is? Maybe a previous owner liked the look of the vinyl roof option? It seems to be missing the left hand mirror though I'm pretty sure all SE models had both. Positioning of the rear badge and bonnet emblem lo...

there's an interesting build thread on here somewhere where someone successfully supercharged their siggy on the cheap. Think it was one of the NZ crew.
If you haven't already, it's worth a look.

Where's the fire, guys? That LA lancer pic has been volunteered by it's author 'OSX' for free use on wikipedia. the full resolution is like 4000x3000 resolution which means he took it with his own camera -it's probably his own car. And if it's not, who cares? It's sitting in a front yard where anyon...

Re: EV into Galant conversion.
The problem with motor in wheel is the weight. Lower "un-sprung mass" makes for much better handling, especially on uneven/rough surfaces. An adaptation I thought of was to use independent motors but with belt driven wheels. Cheers. The motors Protean Electric will be producing this year ...

when i first read about mitsubishi's in-wheel electric motors i immediately thought about how they could be retrofitted to our cars. The datsun in that clip appears to use a single electric motor under the hood? which means using existing driveline components. one advantage of inwheel electric motor...

Wow your 'quick fix' on your front seats is pretty impressive.
Well done on sourcing a 4G32 from a Hyundai! We never got any early RWD Hyundais in Australia.

Welcome to the site, Greg!
From your avatar, your Lancer appears to be a lilac colour, is this the factory paint? I haven't seen that colour on any Mitsus before.
Anyway we're always hungry for pics here on S-G, put some up when you get the chance!

Re: Towing with a sigma
I recently towed 520kg plus trailer with my stock (probably less than stock) 2L 5spd GE wagon and it was fine. Wouldn't go too much more though, brakes come issue.
Towed 1.2T once in my old tired 2L auto wagon and slow was the only way to go due to brakes just not being up to it.

Yep fuel fuel filter and pump as Superscan has said. Being 'random' as you say; it could even be an electrical issue. Or you could have water in your fuel tank.. You say 'randomly' but what can you say about when it occurs? Does it tend to happen when you have low fuel in the tank? when the engine i...

last pic wow  I MUCH prefer the orange. And you can just see a little bit of glorious DOHC peeking out over the.. dammit ..now my knickers are sticky too.
