Re: my GE sigma
nice! If you do get a quote for fixing that bumper, let us know how much it costs just to give an idea on what the real value of a straight bumper is. Also I would probably paint back the silver line at the bottom of the grill at some stage (the one that follows the chrome trim line of the indicator...

Re: GE Sigma vacuum questions
vacuum is meant to be low at idle and wide open throttle, I believe. I think you're supposed to get abt 200mm of vac at norm idle speeds which is around 1/4 full vacuum, so it mightn't FEEL like a vacuum with your thumb over the tube. From your description it sounds like it's hooked up correctly.. y...

Nice work Shuggy, you're really getting stuck into it!
Where did you go to get rust repair quotes? -i need to get a couple of spots on the wagon looked at.
What are you gonna do for the plates- can you keep em NSW? In a way it'd be a bit of a shame to lose the original plates.

Re: Old School FTO in OZ
It's not million; if you hover your mouse over the 88 million it gives the original japanese text ; there are two characters the last one means yen the first one mean 0000. so 880000 yen or abt 11k. -Much better than a million bucks!

Wow, nice!
I may have seen your crown coupe around a few times though not recently- is it silver?
I really dig 70s J-tin too. I think a '73-75 Corona Mk II coupe (one of my faves from that era) would look ace in your collection.
ahem.. but anyway- back to the mitsu'!

Re: Nath's 76 LA
have never been a fan of the way the factory rear treatment on the LA's look. They seem unfinished or something? The problem I have with the trim panels is, if they are the original grey/silver they leave a body colour section around the number plate. It almost looks like there should be a 3rd pane...

Japanese Galant Estate Brochure (GE sigma wagon)
For anyone interested in such things, i've scanned a 12 page Japanese 1979 Galant Estate brochure (GE sigma wagon for most of us). There's a few interesting differences between the japanese and aussie versions of the GE and they had some interesting options we didn't get here. Anyways links are down...

Re: Sigma Diff Ratios
cool, thanks guys  so i'm looking at a 3.42 then... that would put my speedo out by a bit over 10% from the current 3.9 -which is way too short IMHO anyway I'm in 5th gear at 45km/h already. anyone know if there'd be any issue with the GE tail shaft mating up to the 10 bolt diff? are there...

Re: Sigma Diff Ratios
so they used 3.42s for autos and manuals in the GNs?The GN wagons have the 3.7:1 for the 1.6L and 2L and have a 3.42:1 for the 2.6L.

Re: Sigma Diff Ratios
well the GHs are basically GEs with larger wheels so I'd guess that the 3.7 would be for 2L auto (3.9 for GE) and 3.4 for 2L manual (3.53 for GE) maybe the 3.2 is used in the 2.6L manual? Can someone confirm what a GN 2.6L auto wagon should have in it? regarding a 10 bolt diff.. would this be incomp...

Sigma Diff Ratios
Hi guys;
Anyone know what diff ratio is meant to be in an auto GN wagon?
The diff in my manual GE wagon is way too tired and i found someone wrecking a GN wagon..
I believe my diff is a 3.9.
Thanks

hey Taps, welcome to the forum- good to see more perth peeps on here.
Twin 48s on a 4g52 must sound awesome.
I'll be looking for extractors for my GE at some point too. Do you have anything lying about that would suit a stock 4g52?

Re: ddt's 1979 GE sigma wagon 'LIL RED WGN'
That car looks really neat and tidy. Makes me a little dubious about the odometer reading being genuine. I would have expected more like 100,000 to 200,000 km's max. Could the instrument cluster been swapped out at all in it's lifetime. What does the drivers side carpet and the pedals look like? hm...

Hi, nice straight GE - i don't think i've ever seen one in dk brown in that good condition. I like it.
Put up some daylight pics when you have some time too -looking good!
(though i prefer the original door skins. have you tried using a semi-gloss black vinyl paint on standard door trims?)

Wow, that's the sort of condition you expect a 3yr old car to be in.
I also have to favour the consensus here; go for the pepperpots if you can.
The turbs are a bit too 'pretty' for your GN IMHO - the PPs look much tuffer and suit the bigger chunkier GJ-GN shape.
