Re: My 1972 A53H Hardtop
Cheers Jason, yeah its pretty poorly repaired... i am unsure how i will tackle it yet so we will see... I should be able to pull out the bigger dents but because they have creased the panel by trying to straighten it from inside the boot with something pointy some of it will be tricky! And the doubl...

Re: My 1972 A53H Hardtop
Well its time i got started so this morning i decided to investigate some of the poorly repaired damage on the RHD rear quarter and strip down the engine bay for prep and paint... As you can see the rear qtr was terribly repaired as expected and is going to require a reasonable amount of straighteni...

Re: My 1972 A53H Hardtop
Davetrees you are making some great logical arguements! Unfotrunately because the right side has been damaged a long time ago i dont have the orignal mirror either (if i did i have long ago lost it :$ but i dont remember one either so...) The speedo is km/h and it has low kms on it (but could have g...

Re: My 1972 A53H Hardtop
I am not sure it is a 70, could be 71... Mine has definately had some panel damage from a reasonably crash a long time ago, but i dont know if it would have been a write off?? it has been repaired (not as well as i would like in some places...) Is there a way to check if a vehicle has been repaired ...

Re: My 1972 A53H Hardtop
I did get some general cleaning and sorting done today and sifted through the junk... http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac349/BenHarJon/Hardtop/IMG_0278.jpg I also looked through the interior and unpacked the retrimmed dash and doortrims! (pics to come) I seem to have most of the car there to reass...

Re: My 1972 A53H Hardtop
Yeah i am not sure! it has had the front guards replaced so no badges there... and the grill didn't have one i don't think from memory... so a bit hard to tell for sure... Is there any way of using the vin to track any information? the only id number on the whole car is the vin or body number... it ...

Re: My 1972 A53H Hardtop
Unfortunately i dont have alot of info about the car prior to me getting it, it was at the dealer for quite a while! i would say 5yrs plus... and it has a little side swipe damage down the rhd side so has obviously been repaired, except the door, which is knackered! I dont know if the engine was fit...

Re: My 1972 A53H Hardtop
Yeah rust wise it is pretty good (usual small bits and pieces), i slapped the red paint on about 10 years ago when i slotted in the astron turbo running gear but the police didnt appreciate it so i took it of the road and eventually sold off the running gear... I have probably 95% of the car except ...

Great score mate! that is definately the definition of neat! I agree with what was said i am not overly keen on the full stock thing... I like the sleeper look with power, and i like the neat and slightly modded (ie wheels and ride height) stocker... But at the end of the day yoou have to be happy w...

Re: advice needed
Cheers mate! I think the best bet would be too compare the two looms and see where they differ and adapt them... I think from memory the outer lights do headlight and the inners do high beam (or vice versa?) so you would just have to sort the two circuits and wire them separately rather than to the ...

My 1972 A53H Hardtop
Well i have had this car on and off(long story..) for almost 10 years, but sadly for the last 5 or so it has sat in a friends shed in a state of semi strippedness... The plan is to have it back together and on the road for summer (could be dreaming lol)! I got it back home today and i will post some...
