Re: 74 LA Lancer bolt in engine/radiator options
Different states have different rules. I snuck the N/A 2.6 in with no suspension or brake upgrades in QLD. The handling was not significantly affected (though I did move the motor back 40mm on custom engine mounts eventually).

Re: 74 LA Lancer bolt in engine/radiator options
I've had my LA 4 door for 12+years now. I bought it with the intention to jam a 2.6 in it straight away so only ever drove the 4G3x once and was less than impressed. The narrow block 2.6 bolts in 100% except for the exhaust. I had some genie (?) extractors that fit, but I think normally only custom ...

Re: Mr Bishis big brake upgrade in a Galant.
The spacer is only there to clear the 15" wheels. Ditch them if you have bigger wheels or even better try and find a rotor that has the extra offset. They work pretty well I've found, but I've not been taking the car to the track. It's not the greatest solution, but should be cheaper than the h...

auto shells have a bigger (wider) trans tunnel. You will likely need to do some BFH work to get any auto into a manual shell.

Re: lb 2.6 swap questions
I notice on the site he has an oil pump for turbo application only....whats the difference between this and a normal one??? The turbo blocks run a different pick up tube that attaches straight to the pump, while the non-turbo setup bolts to the block. Not an upgrade for flow (AFAIK)so not worth the...

I thought I had seen an M8 kidney, but it was a fair while ago and could be (or probably am) mistaken.

Re: 2.6 head clarification
The M8 & M9 castings have a kidney shaped combution chamber opposed to hemispherical on all other Astron heads. This increases the compression ratio but when used 'as-cast' the ridges are likely to cause hot spots and promote detonation on a high HP engine. These ridges can be smoothed out howev...

I got the pics
It wasn't perfect. A bit of rust and a rear hit so the asking price was a bit high. At the time I was keen, but he claimed it was sold.
The previous time on ebay he 'sold' it to someone overseas. (Nigerians?
) Don't think he was very interested in selling to be honest.

IMHO 13x6 should be fine, but you need the right offset. I run a 15x6 and they fit ok.

I run NSX rotors with commodore twin pot callipers, commo 1" master on a GH sigma booster and GH solid rear discs on a ford 9" diff in my LA. Works well and fits behind 15" wheels. I made a web-page years ago with all the guff on the front conversion. I think Hoonboy may have it hoste...

red Come down my place and inspect my collection of magna heads and starion. My opinion is M6 or M7 is best. Only need to take care of rear coolant port as you know. I'd recommend welding the port on the head (rather than manifold) to allow use of any RWD or FWD manifold. I did this on the M4 I'm ru...

Re: MX6 injection manifold on 4g54?
It doesn't bolt up. The only reason guys in the US bother modding other stuff to fit is because Magna intakes are not freely available there. Australia was the only place that got a factory multi point manifold that BOLTS ON so why not take advantage of that fact? Either gen magna intake can be had ...

Re: Rebuilding Starion 4G54T, Trick of the trade to know?
Don't bother with austarion for 4G54 info. The number of factory 2.6 powered Starions in Aus can be counted on both hands, and I'm not aware of any that have had the 'treatment'. For the record I own a 2.6t Starion. Try a yank website like http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?act=idx for inf...

Re: FORGED PISTONS FOR 2.6
Look at summit racing or JEGS. Don't worry about getting rods as they are the same N/A to turbo (as far as I know??) and would be cheaper to get your rods balanced/shotpeened here. There are also different dish capacities available in the aftermarket pistons so you can get to your desired compressio...

Re: Are Ebay t3 Rebiuld kits any good
Proof drugs are bad kids. On a serious note. I've had problems with my rebuild kit. The bearings were indeed far too loose (I'm not sure if I have an undersize shaft or something), but it was chugging clouds of smoke. Pulled down and replaced with the old (but OK) bearings I pulled out and it seems ...

A small rust spot is nothing. You would have seen some of the ordinary toyo/datto stuff that was there when you came last year.
