Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (MOVED BACK!)
Well thats the thing, if Flav had said to me "hey mate - you better carry a fire extinguisher with you in the car, just in case something goes wrong", I'ld have bought a powder extinguisher straight away, but I had no idea that the was even a slim chance of this happening. When I first saw...

Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (MOVED BACK!)
There's also a manual on /off vent that blows aircon air onto your legs from next to the central column, I'll get a photo happening. The Aircon heats as well as cools, and the aircon buttons change colour to a warm red when that happens. I've started to get all the bits together to repair it, but ye...

Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (MOVED BACK!)
Nope I've not posted anything on the Austarion forum's as I'm not a member of the site, even though I own whats left of essentially a 4 door Starion. This thread will be an interesting one as eventually, (gotta save up at least another $4k), I'll have the Galant* fixed and running again, (although t...

The VCAT paper work has been lodged, it's finally moving ahead - that green galant 2 door is still available but I've yet to find out about the price.
I hope you all have a safe and happy Xmas

Lowminion. Can you please post this info on Austarion? There are people there still singing his praises..... I will second that, he gets a lot of praise .I always thought the thread asking about had anyone seen his missing daughter was a bit weird... His knowledge of Mitsubishi's is well renowned a...

Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (MOVED BACK!)
yeah, the Garrett converted turbo would be a shame to waste, as well as the ported head, and the modified block with the balancers removed to gain some extra kw's, not too mention the new drive plate, although it'll probably take me another year to save the needed $$ to restore it, but yup I'll have...

Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (MOVED BACK!)
I think in the long run this might be the better way, also don't forget that any person that was considering using Flav as their mechanic might now think twice. I've not decided whether to pump more $$ into the thing and have it redone, as my daily driver which this thing was orig bought to replace ...

Hiya all Consumer Affairs Victoria got in contact with Flav, to find out his side of the story, and to see if a solution could be found, what his insurance company was etc etc. In their own words, Quote "Unfortunately, on this occasion efforts to conciliate this matter have not led to a mutuall...

Fair advice I've not done anything illegal yet... Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (aka my baby)
The level of damage to the engine bay is unreal, I've not yet moved the car - still in a "holding pattern" with where to move it to. Waiting on lawyers to return my calls. And waiting to hear from a gent that does forensic fire analysis on motor cars, for litigation etc. At least I'm no lo...

I've also checked all that out, and yes you're correct. But it'll take 6 months for them to query it, and by then the rego has run out. In that time I've still not got my car, and have had to store what's left of it. He's very lucky I was in it alone, as if those I love had been in it to share the e...

Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (aka my baby)
The IRS should mount to the Aus-Spec Sigma. You might need to weld in rear strut towers for the rear shockers. But, wrecking the car isn't the answer. Flav fixing it is. If you were wrecking it, I'd like the wheels, but you can't wreck it! It is such an awesome car! I've spent everything I own on t...

Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (aka my baby)
What he's saying is it's not his fault the thing caught fire - and that there-for he's not obligated to repair it. For you it would be easier to just transfer your Tufsig motor into it (complete with loom), as then the guards and bonnet could be transferrred. I'm NOT giving this guy any more money -...

Re: The imported jap-spec GJ GSR 1984 (aka my baby)
He was the last one that was working on it before it caught fire, and if you did no work to it yourself, or had anyone else touch the engine bay, then it obviously is something he did. It's not like your car was on fire, or caught fire, before Flav worked on it. I can see now that even before you g...

Flavio Siblio (yes that's Flav from the http://www.austarion.com/ forums for those un-initiated) told me that the fire would have been started by the headlight relay's he didnt replace on the left hand side of the motor, and that there's no way it started as a fuel fire, he said those relays shorted...
