Looking good Jason. I doubt you will get a reliable method of current limiting the battery for the starter... I mean at 12V its a bit difficult to distinguish 100amp to 300amp. Better off making sure the situation can't arise in the first place. If you paranoid about going through a hole in the chas...
As above, have you got a timing light? If not, go somewhere that has one. To answer your first question, does it look out? yeah, it does look like it "may" be a tooth out, but you really need to confirm that for your self... If the rotor is no where near no1 when at TDC then move the dizzy...
 Assuming both are astron 1, First you need to know if the 2.6 is a wide or narrow bell housing type. Preferrably you want the narrow type (meaning it started life as an auto), so you can use the smaller fly wheel from the 2lt. The only other thing I would consider putting in the 2.6 is the c...
Yeah pretty straight forward to do your self. -Remove radiator -Remove timing cover (not forgetting the two bolts under the rocker cover) -Remove the timing shaft chain, oil pump etc to remove shafts. Fit the elimination kit then put it all back together. To re-fit the timing cover, you 'may' be abl...
but an extra 7.1mm + 8mm stroke would be better... :hit: ...Nothing wrong with the 2lt ya cheeky bugger! :blah: & yeah, think you'll find 1mm over size is about it for off the shelf pistons. Not sure if the come in .5mm ? may do, ask who ever is doing the boring if they can get them in that inc...

I know in the galant when you start it up from cold, its temp will climb, peak over where it normally sits and then drop back a little bit and that's about where it sits. As far as I'm aware, this is just waiting for the manifold/thermostat etc getting up to temperature, then when it finally opens t...
Yeah I guess if the interior is all original and looking good, then would kinda spoil it having an after market gauge in there. Have you fitted the new sensor? what was the outcome? sometimes it'll sneak up to half and from the angle I'm sitting at it looks as though it goes a fraction above half, b...
As Dave said, more than likely going to be a gauge problem (or any of the connections between them). Not sure about our model sigma, but the GE/GH had a Voltage regulator that is 'pushed' against the circuit board of the gauge cluster, causing odd problems with the temperature & fuel gauge. To b...
The cap is keyed so it will only go on one way; same with the rotor. As Dave said above, also open the oil cap and see if you can rock 'both' of the rockers for cylinder 1 - if you can this means it is ready to fire, if you cant, that means cylinder 4 is, so rotate the crank another 360 degrees. PS:...
Thanks for the suggestions Torana68. Only have an arc welder, so wouldn't even consider trying to weld one straight in. Persisted with making something up that mounts to the pedal box. turned out pretty well, so I'm happy  For anyone who is interested, this is what I ended up with. Started...
Fiat cable? Would've thought the stock cable was compatible... No, not long enough. can't buy the GS cable in Aus to my knowledge, but a Fiat 131 cable is perfect. It's ball both ends, I just cut the end off, and used a screw on barrel type end. Has been on my wagon for 7 years now. Dave... How sho...
Webby would be referring to the astron engine range when he says sigma engine. This is the adapter plate that is used to mount a weber onto the factory manifold. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WEBER-ADAPTOR-PLATE-MITSUBISHI-SIGMA-SCORPION-PAJERO-/270658391197?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f0...
HD one? as in make one up that would deserve the name Heavy Duty? Any suggestions on how you would go about doing that? Going by how flimsy the steel is in that area, my thoughts are to try and mount something back to the pedal box. Although that may not be possible with the clutch hanging off the s...
Hey all, Wondering how others that have converted their Auto Galants to manual have put the clutch cable in 'neatly' through the firewall? Looking at the factory type adjuster on the firewall, doesn't appear to be removable, as in allowing it to be used on an auto body for the cable. Easy enough to ...
Yeah fair call, was guessing something like that (most of us are in that category...).
-but on face value couldn't help my self lol.
also check if there is any fluid leaking from the seal where the actuator pushes on the master cylinder. Will need to wiggle it back from the booster a bit to see that.
Redline make an adapter plate to bolt on to the astron manifold that will take the weber from the falcon (which is a dual throat carb), and I'm fairly sure the weber from the escort would go on there too. Even if the redline adapter doesn't bolt straight on, shouldn't take much to make your own adap...
Haven't forgotten about this.... But for the life of me I can remember where I've 'stored' them
Almost embarrassing haha. Will keep an eye out. But... surely someone else can help out?????????
Check the drums dont have a lip forming on them first Yup, check that for sure. Replaced the shoes on my lancer a couple months back and even they took some persuasion to get the drum back on. from memory I noticed that the mounts weren't the same & took some grinding to make it sit in the same...
