Jap box output splines
Hey all, Wanting to know if the output splines are different for the jap boxes going from narrow to wide block? & whilst I'm at it, the wide block I have has the extension housing for the latter shifter, can you use the shifter assembly from a narrow block to bring the shifter back forward? Chee...

Re: serious timing issue
I've been running 3.5mm off the head for a fair while now. -Unlike cheater suggests, I haven't got the tensioner packed to take up the slack at idle, which is rather foolish of my self. But I'm still running factory 2lt cam etc etc, so no extreme loading of after market springs and aggressive ramps ...

Love seeing some enthusiasm in a new member; especially at that age when its all fun  ...but seeing that kind of rust in a structural part of a car kind of makes me cringe. Fixable? yeah, everything is fixable, but paying someone to repair that "properly" would blow out. Maybe lo...

I've NEVER seen another Galant around here. Seems to be plenty of datsuns, the odd mazda, corolla etc, and of course plenty of Sigma's and even a rather nice scorpion I often see an old guy driving, but... not one Galant ? Even now i get people asking what year model Datsun is it ? No ide...

No such thing as a stupid question, that how we learn
As the astron engines run an alloy head, they are fitted with hardened valve seats.
So no need for additive.

Re: Astron 2 engine revving low/ air hoses.
Welcome to the site mate,
If you would be able to post up a few pictures of the hoses you are referring to, I'm sure there will be a few of us that can help point you in the right direction.
Did the engine cut out before hand, or is it mainly after you have changed a few things around?
Nick.

Re: Car hesitates when you stab the throttle.?
Can be a result from many factors, so bit hard to say "it's this" with out having the car to look at. Bit more information might help get to the bottom of it though. -when does it mainly do it? when cold? or at running temp? -Low RPM mid, or high? -Under gentle throttle or hard throttle? H...

Re: Car hesitates when you stab the throttle.?
My sigma has this exact same prolem. The problem can be brought on moreso if you're running additional accessories. For example, with it in neutral (and with the automatic choke worn off), the engine will happily idle @ 900rpm. If you turn on electrical accessories one by one (ie. wipers, cabin a/c...

Re: 2.6 efi
astron 1 2.6 are dished to suit the smaller head cc, as the 2lt use flat tops.
Not sure what your asking with the cams ? heads ?
Yes, the astron 2 head on a astron 1 block will yield an awesome comp ratio, but from a potential point of view... the astron 2 head is far better!

Re: 2.6 efi
head to a wrecker and get your hands on a RWD astron 2 inlet manifold for a carby. Can be found on the GN sigma's, & some scorpions. Also some of the Pajeros & Tritons that used the astron 2 2.6 should have a suitable manifold. check it for corrosion. Ensure the rear water passage on the ast...

astron 1 and 2 heads are identical apart from the cams (or so i believe) Quite a lot different actually. As you have already found, the chamber is a bit bigger on the astron 2's (and this will vary again depending on which casting of the head you have, above exhaust port 2 there is a casting like M...
