My MA L200 ute
Re: My MA L200 ute
Say hello to the donor
And the engine!
It had extractors, which are useless to me lol
Got a quote from jw racing. $300-$400 for a cut and shut on the intake plenum.. That the most expensive bit I think..

Re: My MA L200 ute
Looking good, just a question though, why JW Racing?
Re: My MA L200 ute
Been told they're good.. But I'm thinking of seeing if someone on here will do it for me.. If I paid them, and postage down and back

Re: My MA L200 ute
Fair enough, From what ive seen they are very hot and cold with their work. i have seen people come out of there with awesome cars, and others with poorly built and tuned motors. but thats just what i have seen, always get recomended to go there so maybe i just seen an odd case or something.
Re: My MA L200 ute
Yea.. I trust the guys on here more than a business owner.. Only out to make a dollar, not to satisfy the customer

Re: My MA L200 ute
Most places that weld alloy should be able to do it for like $40
Re: My MA L200 ute
Update;
Got a guy coming out Friday to give me a free quote. I'm expecting 2k.. That's a far shot, so if I expect that, and he says 1k. Well, I'm a happy camper lol
Other than that, not much done lately... I bought dodgy rust converter, so that, and no motivation.
On a brighter note... She don't leak! Lol... Raining pretty hard for a while, checked and not even a bead of water anywhere it shouldn't be
Also! The new engine is staying in until its ready to go into the ute. Minus the mods needed like the thermostat. But it runs sweet once warm.. The O2 sensor is buggered, so it's a butch until its warm, but then it just sits at 850rpm and doesn't miss a beat all the way through to 8500rpm no smoke, no fuely fumes, slight tappet rattle, but rest is fine!

Re: My MA L200 ute
So I've kinda made myself a list, and given myself a time frame to have it done. (Not registered/roadworthy. Just starting and driving).
My list;
1) Body work and paint(Current task). Respray chassis, diff and suspension parts.
2) Interior. Custom door cards, new carpet, install new seats, audio, carbon wrap acc.
3) Mechanical. Convert engine to RWD (includes all mods required), install engine, new exhaust (2.25" or 2.5"?? Unsure yet, with tuned lengthed extractors).
4) Electricals. Mod loom to suit, install loom and ecu.
5) Cosmetics. Build tray, instal taillights, speakers, flares, mags, angel eye headlights, maybe a duck bill, gauges, etc.
6) Performance. Start looking at ride height, brake upgrade, diff upgrade etc.. See how it all feels.
I am looking at getting it running and driving by chrismas.. This year! Lol.. So that's to stage 4.
In between all the stages I will be gathering part, servicing/rebuilding parts, and poking through it all step by step

This thing was 4WD? Didn't look like it from the pics. What else you using from the Galant? Seats etc?75glnt wrote:...Convert engine to RWD (includes all mods required), install engine, new exhaust (2.25" or 2.5"?? Unsure yet, with tuned lengthed extractors).
Re: My MA L200 ute
nah this thing is 2wd, he has to convert the engine from the Fwd galant to Rwd to fit it to the l200
Re: My MA L200 ute
What he said
And nope.. Only using the engine, loom and ecu... Everything else is mint and perfect! Almost a shame..

Re: My MA L200 ute
Sorry, ill communication I meant the L200 was a 4WD (nope, this isn't getting any more confusing is it?) This will go nicely with the G63B twin cam in it.
Re: My MA L200 ute
Haha!! The l200 is a 2wd although it has a 4wd dash has a 4wd light in the dash to warn when it's engaged, etc.
And yea I'm hoping it goes good! It put out 120kw standard.. So once I'm completely finished with it.. I'm hoping for about 150rwhp. I would like to make 200.. But, I don't see that happening I'd like to go with a good cam, k&n filter kit, larger injectors, extractors, hi comp forged pistons, lighten the crank and flywheel, blueprint and balance everything. But, that costs a lot of money! And I'm too keen to have a dohc 4g64 l200 to have it lead on for a year longer.. Lol

Re: My MA L200 ute
Yep but 5 holes instead of 8.
Even better news! I found a mob near me who do them! The first mob are in California. And quoted me $550 postage.
Only downfall is these new guys, only seem to have them in -44. Lol
I'll find a pic and post it up

Re: My MA L200 ute
Steve came around today! (The panel beater). And had a good look over the old girl. Quoted me $1500 was expecting $2k so I'm stoked! He can't start it for at least a month, which gives me time to save. And will take a month to do. So say 3 months then onto stage 2!

Re: My MA L200 ute
Don't forget if you stay 6 stud any 4wd rims will fit. I've got 15s off a Surf on my Triton and they have Dish....

Re: My MA L200 ute
Yea I know. Most rims will fit. There's 2 different 6 stud patterns that I know of. The really small one on the new navara (I think it's on those). And the normal one. But thanks

Re: My MA L200 ute
Found me a manifold I did! Thanks lchilds! it's a bare cyclone turbo one. But my injectors will fit. And my tb might! If not. I'll get a bigger one for it ;)
Had a look at the galant and it has a tps. Great! More electrotechnical crap!
I also had a look at the ute. It's got me stuffed where I'm going to put the air filter! The battery is there. And the washer bottle and overflow bottle is on the other side.. But that's all the stuff I'll sort out when the engine is in.
F**king WOOP!! I'm excited
