75 Wagon
Mileage - 143k miles
4g32 with some pretty bad rod knock
KM110 4spd combo
Paint - Bright Red (code 055) faded to Red Orange
Lowered 2" with chopped front springs, though potentially done correctly, no extra play in front suspension, blocks on rear end (undecided about those or not)
Stock shifter was cut near the base and 2nd owner (i'll be the 4th) welded a 16" shifter to it lol
Working AM Radio
Shaved hatch, license plate relocated to rear bumper which is actually a front bumper I believe.
tail lights were rewired, so I with my amber tail lenses off the 77 will not be functioning as turn indicators rather than just extra parking lights lol.
Buick hubcaps on the stock 13s
Only rust is surface rust where the paint has chipped away in tiny patches, have been sprayed with clearcoat to prevent further rusting for now (temp fix).
Roof rack!
Comes with a Surfboard, 2nd owner had a Hawaiian theme going lol.
that is the smog pump
Some goodies that came with it, I'll scan them in later
Dealership Press Photos from 1975
Plans nothing other than mating the 4g52 from the 77 into the 75 and thus my questions about the 4spd and Astron in the drivetrain section. Also Sidedrafts to come and a header, then done . Oh and swapping my Enkei 92s over too.

Re: 75 Wagon
Forgot to mention...
Even though I'm tossing the 4g52 in, I can now remove the Colt fender emblems and install the "Galant 1600" ones because it was originally a 1600 car. Didn't feel right to put them on the 77, because it is 2.0l from the factory so I never installed them. When the 2nd owner shaved the hatch of the license plate and license plate light holes, he also cleaned up the hood, welding the holes up front shut where it used to read "Dodge" across the center. Need to find my Mitsubishi emblems and put one on this car and then pull the Galant badge off the 77 hatch as well to install on this one.

I think you should stick a Valiant badge on the bonnet, just to further confuse the locals, lol
Looks good mate.
Pretty sure that smog pump would be called EGR (Exhaust Gas Recovery) but I like smog pump better

lol that's not the EGR, that's somewhere else on the motor. That pump is meant to be 50 state legal (California was strict even in the 70s) vs the 77 is only 49 state legal with federal emissions.

Re: 75 Wagon
So in preparation for the g52, things I need help with;
Being that the g52 had a auto setup, I got to remove the pilot bearing (if it has one?) and flex plate, then install flywheel (with bearing) correct?
Is there a difference between auto/manual starters?
Alternator: How do you guys do it when converting from Saturn to Astron? Lengthen the wires, new plugs?
To use the KM110 I need the g52 flywheel, pressure plate, but use the KM110 clutch disc correct?
I think that's it for right now.

Yep. It wont have a pilot bearingRaptorReed wrote:Being that the g52 had a auto setup, I got to remove the pilot bearing (if it has one?) and flex plate, then install flywheel (with bearing) correct?
There should not be (you've got both of them there, compare them)RaptorReed wrote:Is there a difference between auto/manual starters?
Why don't you just swap over the wiring looms while you're at it?RaptorReed wrote:Alternator: How do you guys do it when converting from Saturn to Astron? Lengthen the wires, new plugs?
I'd be seeing if the 4g32 flywheel fits.RaptorReed wrote:To use the KM110 I need the g52 flywheel, pressure plate, but use the KM110 clutch disc correct?

Re: 75 Wagon
I sold the 77's harness to a buddy that needs one for his wagon, and it's not something I really want to do again. Glad Mitsubishi got it right years later to separate the Underdash harness from the front chassis harness, it requires me pulling the brake booster to get the loom out.
Jason are the alternator plugs the same? I know it's not for a g63. Also you could order up a relocation kit and keep your alt mounted on the same side as you have the g54 ;).

Re: 75 Wagon
Ironically the left fender and hood are originally blue beneath the red paint. The hood is matte black on top and red underneath, however some paint has chipped to reveal blue underneath that, and the fender shows bits of blue around the bolt holes. I'm thinking it wasn't recent that the hood and fender were replaced but probably back in the 80s-90s, because the faded paint is exactly the same on the rest of the car.
Installing the 75's 4g32 into friend's Passenger seat of his Lancer lol.
Colt Party! Lancer>Galant>Galant
Things learned in the pulling of the 77's 4G52 yesterday.
- The 77's baby A904 3spd's torque converter was getting ready to explode (small chips all over the outside of the torque converter and starter plate. Stripped teeth on trans input shaft.
-Car did not have the right alternator, so they used 20 washers to make the one they had work
- transmission crossmember, serves better as pry bar or ramp than as structural support. Bolt holes on end were complete rotted that there are still two bolts attached to the car underneath. the transmission mount was really holding the crossmember in place.

Re: 75 Wagon
Yeesh, the stuff you find when you start pulling things apart. The rotten ends of transmission cross members are common - and you don't find out until the rubber damping blocks are pulled off. But the condition of the auto trans is what surprised me. It must've had a rough life to end up as bad as you've indicated! No love at all...

Re: 75 Wagon
True on one side I found out after pulling the rubber off, on the other side it was when it just slid off on the other side, thus leaving the those bolts and rubber still attached to the car.

Re: 75 Wagon
Got her running after I swapped out the auto starter for the one from my VR4 (Manual car)
start up
Got to work on the idle now, before I hooked up the throttle pedal rod (Our cars have bell crank throttle pedal setups, no cable) it will idle, afterwards not so much, but there is also a vacuum port I need to reconnect as well.

Nope, it's rocking the original 4g32's 28-30 Mikuni downdraft on the g52 currently, until I can afford some 40mm Dellorto sidedrafts.

The 1.6 L's carby will run it a bit lean - hunt down the right carby to avoid the possibilty of anything nasty happening to your engine (plus it will have more go)RaptorReed wrote:Nope, it's rocking the original 4g32's 28-30 Mikuni downdraft on the g52 currently, until I can afford some 40mm Dellorto sidedrafts.

Re: 75 Wagon
I understand the difference between the too, however I was having issues with my 2.0l carb, which was pretty sure the float needed replacing, but you can't just buy a new float or find a 30-32 DIDTA mikuni around here in the states. I won't go into more detail on the 2.0l carb, I got so fucking fed up with it over the coarse of these last two weeks, that I wanted to just rip it off and chuck it into the road. The 28-30 DIDTA is staying on til April comes and I can afford the carbies I want, moving next month and my truck just broke, basically considering the current situation, it's fine for now. Also from what I could read, the main jets were bigger than the ones in my 2.0l carb.
Also not about to drop $300 on a Weber and then end up no more than a month later drop another $600 on a set of Dellortos.
Sorry, it hasn't been a good couple weeks of car wrenching, a few SGers on facebook can confirm that.

Re: 75 Wagon
No more Colt badges, though I still have the holes for them, but eh it will get repainted eventually at some point. Thought about putting the Galant badges over the existing holes, but looked up pics of other cars, realized they sit much lower and agreed it would look weird if the badge sits up that high on the fender.
