Looking good matey, with the carpet this is usual for new moulded carpet, let it sit for approx 2weeks and heat and mould anything your not happy with, then cut holes. ;)

Cheers

now most of the dramas are sorted she's finally getting the paint done.
Heres are couple of shots before, not TOO bad but has scratches, shop trollet dents, dodgy hatch repair work, hail damage etc...nothing a decent panel beater can't fix!

Still spins me out that hail damage is such an issue for you guys, we get such cheap new cars over here with hail damage (some not noticable)
Anyway, the Lancer is looking primed, can not wait to see the outcome :)

Car is back from painter ...not bad!, almost there .

i think i'll remount the driving lights on the front bumper ...seems almost every LC had them!
Photos REAL soon...

Hey mate looking good.
I was wondering how big the intercooler you used is, what brand (if any) where you got it from and how much?
Im looking at one for my GA turbo project but havent found one small enough yet (i dont want the wanky cop magnet factor on the front) I want stock look and hidden like yours.

Cheers Matt

Ok. I am unsure of the brand...no markings. I bought is (almost) new off a fella I met from the Boostcruising website he was on here too for a short while.and it was under 250 with the VL pump and a surge tank.
The square section size is 42 by 42 by 7 cm ...bit bigger at the in/out holes.3'' . took me ages to find one this size.Cheers

They're not much fun to mask up are they?
I've got a set to do today, I'll be using the same method, masking tape and art knife... takes about an hour a rim if I'm being careful :@

Been a while.
Blast from the past.
Starion long gone Matt.
Finances looking better...just had a brand new pajero head , new valves and TR/S roller rockers/cam done .
Changing head over Christmas period ...ARP head studs and ADUSA 2.6 head gasket going on at the same time.
Should breathe better than the 1987 head!
Cheers

Hey I have had an la lb and a lc great cars I must say .
The best option I have found and it bolts straight in is the 2.6 astron but you have to be careful as different tail shafts can be a problem as I found out.
The essayist way is to get the bitsumishi multi stud/hole bell housing but you will have to drill one hole out to fit up the standard 5 speed that way you don't have to change much. sigma front struts bolt up but you will have to cat the diff down and if using the disk brake diff you will need a proportioning valve , the difficulty with this operation is simple you can do it with basic tools so don't be scared I taught my self mechanics and there's not much I cant do today.
Good luck and if there is anyone in brisbane with a spare lb lancer for sale (looking for a project) I would be interested .

Yes mate thanks .
The green struts ,brake rotors, pads, calipers are all there about 2-3 yrs now gathering dust.
Finding the time is hard...hopefully over my 3 weeks off after the 17th Dec. I'll get her going at least,
with the new head...and possibly resurrect the turbo / intercooler idea at the same time.

I want to compete in hillclimb or something next year...either this or my Mazda...i think it'll be decided on a breakdown analysis of motorsport activity related costs /repair costs.

Cost of aftermarket ECU and tune for Lancer? approx $2000.

Lets see...repair cost of new Mazda GTR gearbox $2-3000...cost of new Starion wideblock 5 speed?...
Would be bout the same .
Mazda faster .
Lancer more fun. :D

The head its being replaced with
its a M28 (pajero style) with brand new valves,TS magna roller rockers and cam shaft.

The AJUSA 2.6turbo head gaskets actually comes with some sort of a rubberised material strip for the timing cover seal (not bad)

Hi mate, I fitted TR Magna roller rockers to my engine too but can't seem to seal up the rear of the cam properly, it keeps spitting out oil even with the stock Magna rear cam seal! How did you overcome this?

Hi Bad-Sig
After the head came back from putting the gear in ,he gave me a cam seal and i just drove it in with a block of wood and hammer .i think i used a drill bit end to knock it in until it wouldnt travel any further to be sure. Its been fine .
It was a brand new head though ,Cheers

You know the seal has one side with a flat face and one side with a groove. Which side faces the inside of the head and which faces the firewall/outside?
