My La Lancer! 1974
G'day so im new here, i have just bought a LA Lancer for $800.
2 weeks since i bought it, i hit a roo ( need parts for the front!)
It has a 2.6 Astron in it (just stock standard, no work done to it at all)
2.5 inch exhaust system
it needs a respray
i love it, it weighs 1100 kilos with the engine, so its pretty light.
I was just wondering
i want max performance from this lancer.
i was thinking about putting fuel injection on it
but i dont know if the efi will hit the bonnet.
but anyway, im new to this forum (well i had a sigma once upon a time and was on this forum but i forget my name)
now i have a lancer, and im back in action!
if you'd like be to put some pics up, i shall do. Cheers

Re: My La Lancer! 1974
I have an intake manifold, injectors with throttle body for the astron 1 head you have. It fits in my lancer so will fit in yours.
Only Astron 2 came with EFI and so to use your current head you would need an adapter plate.
You would need a loom and ecu though as I sold these. Oh and fuel pumps and surge tanks too (I also have these for sale)
Cheers

Re: My La Lancer! 1974
Hey mate ill reply here in your thread instead to your PM!
You will need a TN-TP magna intake manifold wiring loom etc for the conversion, TR-TS intake is too wide and will foul the strut tower. Now the next challenge is you have a Astron 1 series engine. All EFI magna's are a series 2 astron engine, which have different cylinder heads, the ports, are bigger and the intake bolt pattern isnt interchangeable with astron one. So to do it either switch to a series 2 head or get a adapter plate made up.
The TN-TP manifold needs sectioning down in height to clear the bonnet, flip the throttle body upside down so the sensors are facing down for more room also. You will also need to go to a different fuel system and wire up the factory ecu if you are going that way.

do some research on the site before you go jumping into anything. lots of people have done similar things and have all asked the questions you are about to.mstrrab1992 wrote:Yikes! sounds like to much work, hmm might keep it old school and stay with Carbs. get some twin solex's or dellorto's, need some major internal work done before that, how would i go with turboing an astron with twin solex's or dellorto's
just sit for a couple of hours and search the site for info

looks good man I must catch up with you and have a look in the flesh. I think you should bite the bullet and do the work for efi. then you could get a td05 on there and have some really good fun. just gather the bits you need bit by bit and go from there. maybe do the balace shaft removal too.

Re: My La Lancer! 1974
yeah, i just bought 2 Astron blocks for 20$, so thats 2, plus 1 in the lancer, 3, plus i have 3 sigma wrecks, thats 6, so i have 6 astron engines i can rob parts from to make a really good one, im eventually going to go efi, just need to get a job, in the little town of maclean its pretty much impossible, gonna eventually get a m9 magna head, flat top pistons, efi, and do some internal work, eventually Lol, now im just focusing on making her look pretty, needs a little respray and a few little touch ups, got all the parts for the front to, so she's fully assembled driveable now, well illegally >_< I just need to bolt on the new blinkers parkers that sit in the front and cuz i couldnt get original lancer ones i got some off ebay and theyre gonna be a bitch to fit >_<

Is this still for sale?
I am very interested, as long as it's registerable in NSW... I'm not sure if QLD has the same 'rules' as NSW.
Anyway, this is my very first post ever... so I dont know the protocol
So, get back to me, please... ?
