Midnyte's Chrysler GH Turbo Scorpion

Post by Midnyte »

Well I finally Decided to start the build post. I have recently purchased this scorpion from my brother. We have had it in the family for a while. It is about time I got my hands on it. I will post some better Photos when I get them. Currently the Scorpion is getting a few Engine bay upgrades, Such as Front mount intercooler ETC. I have been reading so many posts on this site and have taken some good advice from allot of them. So Thanks to everyone. Keep an Eye Out for My Updates.

He's got the right model scorp' to pull it off though! I've always liked the split grille on these things. I think it's captured the 70's muscle car look.

Awesome mate! The wheels are mint! Suit it perfectly. Hate the bonnet personally. But with a bit of a tidy up, would be a mint car!
What sort of power does it make?

At the Moment I am unsure of the Power. Its in at the performance center getting some upgrades. I do know that it is extremely fun. engine includes... Please Correct Me if these are not right I am still learning ...

Garret turbo t03/4 (Old Typ Oil Only),
TR Magna EFI,
Stinger EMS.
2.5 Exhaust
Water/Methanol single point injection
2.6ltr Motor
Different Head( I Think its from a magna.

Upgrades its getting Currently

Front Mount Intercooler
3 inch exhaust
All the Vacuum lines fixed as they have been done really poor
New Heat Shroud and Thermal Wrapping.(The existing Heat shroud is S@#t I am Melting stuff)
Dyno tune (This will give me the power readout and you guys can tell me how to make the car go like mad max too)

I would Like a new type turbo (Oil and Water Cooled ball bearing type)
Then Complete Rebuild on the Motor including removing the balance shaft
New Turbo boost gauge so I can have two settings.
Wind the boost up see what she can do. But I know I need to do other things on the list first like...

Brakes. (Repair and Upgrade)
Steering (Refurbishment)
Suspension(Rebuild and Lower).

Anyways I could go on forever as I love the Car.
I will Post the Power Output as soon as I have it.

So the interior was pretty normal when I got it. Need something done to it. At least for a little while till I can afford it to go to the re-upholstery guys. I had a little bit of a play. Happy for now but not as good as I had hoped. It will have to go in to the professionals.

Good work. Recovering a crash pad is hard to get right anyway... Audio set up is comprehensive without being over the top. Liked the way the factory instrumentation was upgraded too- must look awesome at night!

I definately agree with the others on those Rims - what are they off? Wells wheels? Im sorry but i also agree with the bonnet not being that good - i personally like the basic sigma turbo bonnet vents only look but am still deciding what to go for on my own Scorp. Have mucked around in photo shop with the idea of a single fat stripe down the center with the vents just poking out the sides. Have you done anything about the hood yet? Would love to see some progress!

Kudos on the interior too bud, something im lacking in - interested in some work?

You have given me some great ideas for my continued build - going to upload a heap of pics and details on my 85 GLTurbo Scorp build now for others to comment on.

Cheers

Progress

Real SLOW

The performance shop had had it for a while.I had started to forget what it looked like. Went and got some photos. So Far they have completed the 3 inch stainless exhaust. Mounted the New Intercooler. Re-newed a couple of the oil lines and Drilled and tapped the manifold so that all the vacume piping come's direectly off the manifold and not off another pipe. Still to go is finish the intercooler piping, Heat shield. E Boost Street adjustable turbo boost. New oil intercooler. I miss driving it. still no progress on the bonnet. That will be first on the list as soon as I get it back. Here are a couple of the pics

Then they put it on the Dyno tune and tune it for me.

My job has changed so I should get alot more free time. Time I can spend doing the work myself rather than having pay someone else to do it. Set of sports seats will be purchased on the drive home from the performance shop.

It would be good to remove the Black Bumper stops front and back.

anyway... I wonder how much longer they will have it.

Here is the closest thing I could find on the rims... Centerlines is what I was told.

Summit Racing and Rockit Industries are great for this sort of thing. Both are favs on my computer.

Went to have a look today at the performance shop. He is getting along and told me that it would be completed by Thursday. All that he has left to do is Dyno tune and Exhaust shroud. There are a few other minor little things like put the grill back on and wire in the thermo fan... ETC. He has finished the Intercooler Piping, Adjustable turbo boost, Blow off valve and has re-run the water methanol injection. Put on the thermo fan. Anyway I hope its complete on Thursday. It would be good to have it home again. Here are a couple of Pics just as an update.

Looks very American Muscle Car with the matt black paint, stone guards and Centrelines.
Still not sure about the bonnet but it does kinda suit the theme.

So I got the Scorpion back today. She went 167.9HP ATW on 10pound boost. A figure I am happy with. The performance shop says that it needs bigger injectors before we go any higher. Sounded sweet. On the way home I realized that she was running sweet and would quite happily take more. Going to have to order the injectors. Stopped at the car shop and picked up a few things. Now I have got to clean out the shed so I can get stuck into her. Here's a pic on the dyno
