I think you might have removed a bit more than you needed to to get the engine out

Combination of bad weather, long hours, another harddrive crash, so cant transfer pics....

Things are happening slowly,
But just starting to come together now.

Im being patient, rego isnt running out while its suspended, so i may aswell put it together properly.

Actually im asking about Suspension and Brake upgrades in that section atm if anyone can help...

Ok folks, been awhile but here is abit of an update on just some of the work that has been going on.

Here is the Engine cross member, Struts and suspension ripped out
Image

The Engine and Gearbox cross members, and Steering parts sand-blasted and undercoated...
Image

Those parts painted Gloss Black...
Image

I have had the Sigma radiator re-cored, in a 3 way directional core...
Image

New Fan...
Image

I had been using normal Electric fans, mounting them to the front, and reversing the wires...
due to limited engine bay room.
It does blow through instead of suck,
but due to the fan blade direction, it doesnt blow as much air, as it can suck.
so while it does work, it doesnt work efficiently enough.
So this brand of fan is abit expensive, but it allows you to turn the fan blade around with this clip on the shaft...
Image

Image

Some bits ive had chromed or had the chrome touched up ...
The Front bumper and bonnet Catch
Image

Bonnet hinges, Firewall air vent plates, and bonnet Catch...
Image

And going old school
Image

Brakes and suspension are in the build up now,
Still waiting on the block to be machined and head work,
but Pistons, head studs, Rod cap bolts are on their way from the States...

Its geting there :D

have a look in the first two pages of my build thread, i have a saturn 1.6 mechanical fan on the engine, sigma radiator (had to notch out the castor rod supports to get the rad down enough for bonnet to shut) and twin 8' thermo's infront of rad. I came into the same problem as you..there just isnt a big enough opening in the rad support for air flow and a decent rad!

Some may have seen i have been taking a keen interest in what Vented disk and What Brake caliper upgrades can be bolted onto Sigma Struts lately.

Well so far the answer is none.

I was very fortunate a couple of weeks ago that GalantGrunt came to the last Newcastle Cruise, and he showed me the brake setup on his Galant.
So I knew it would work.
But mine is slightly different from his.

Well here it is.

And thank you Sam (GalantGrunt)

the new wheel hub with Ford 5 stud wheel pattern

BA Falcon 297 x 28mm Vented and Slotted front disks

BA Falcon Twin piston, Alloy front brake calipers

Just have to redrill the wheel stud holes and pull them in.
And mill Brake caliper adaptor plates.

But off to QLD for a holiday tomoz, so will be another couple of weeks away unfortunately.

Cheers

Well they say it wouldnt be fun if it was easy,
but to be honest they can have there fun lol

FINALLY got the engine in to the machine shop, only to find the block was cracked in 6 places,
and the head i had already had 40thou shaved off, so no good for boost...

Might have another block though, just waiting for it to be crack tested now.

And i got onto a local company 'The Headmen' that supplied me with a brand new aftermarket head to save the hassel of worrying about heat and stress cracks, and ill use the Valves and cam from the other head. Pick that up tomorrow.

Have to finish painting the engine bay,
hopefully start putting the suspension back together in the next week,
finish the brake caliper mounting brackets,
finish replacing pulling a dent out of the fuel tank, sand blast and paint and replacing the fuel lines,

Not much to go now lol
So glad i brought a car that was "95% complete" :banh:

No mate i went to a Local company, and they just ordered it...

So we can still get brand spanking new Bare heads!
I already had a magna head, so i am using the Valves etc out of it into this one.
This way i dont have to worry about any cracks already suddenly appearing, or having to worry about how much has been shaved off the head etc...

Dave I just want the bloody thing driveable at this stage lol

POWAHHHHHHHHHHH lol
do they make your wheels 16" with Ford 5 stud Dean?
