And GTO - Gran Turismo Omologato is Italian for Grand Touring Homologated.
Which means they were approved by the sanctioning body to race in a GT league.

One of my old mates has just got his GTO 2000GS registered and on the road (NZ import). He also owned a GTO during the 70s when the old "Colt Sporting Car Club" was alive in Sydney.

I shall be working on the carbs shortly so I will encourage him to join the register. I intend taking some photos of it alongside my Hardtop.

Keep watching...........

Once my Coupe is finished I will be scouring all resourse to find a sweet GTO in Japan, there are still quite a few come up for sale there, in fact, a lot more than GC/D Hardtops come up for sale here.

The 4G35 engined X1 and X2 produced from Feb '72 to Jan '73 were missed there. 4G52 versions were from Jan '73.

Is that with the rectangle headlights? Id cut off my nuts for that thing!
I have bought and am importing a GB door, twin round headlight, galant, I know I could chuck the GA lights into it IF i thought that was a good idea, But a genuine square headlight 2door would be sweeeeeeeet.
You should have no probs getting any parts you want from NZ, I know of people that have chucked old shells away there! I almost grabbed a freebie to bring back with my good one. But the extra $$$$ to ship it was just not worth it, BUT if you have a GA 2 door to restore with the parts I would be finding something to ship over and fix it with!

I'll get the details off mine next visit to the bush.
Currently engineless, jap 5speed,bilsteins all round. It was origionally Silver grey with black interior.Currently fitted with steel bolt in roll cage and a bloody roof vent. Absolutely rust free and amazingly straight considering it was rallied for a couple of years.
I plan on restoring it to origional condition (with some engine mods)

I've been meaning to add my hardcopy to this list but keep forgetting. Will rectify tonight.
Also, how do you determine your build date? I'm assuming its translated from the VIN number.

See, TJ's car is also 6/75 but is numbered 1028, it would be awesome if we could get a real figure of impots and distribution. I suspect by the rash of 6/75 that a boat load landed about then, lol

Galant_GT0 wrote:I am pretty sure that is correct. If it was taken from the firewall stamp A112H number, mine would be 282 from 6/75. Seems more likely that it is 982 by the middle of 1975.I agree we need some sort of info from MMAL of Chrysler Australia to confirm how many were actually imported.Just reading the chassis info page I really think the build number is on the ID plate. As the chassis number was stamped in Japan it would flow numerically from there not Australia Cheers
Jason
yes the chassis number is the Factory number in sequential order, it doesnt help with the number imported, , the Oz number will be the Chrysler one and its also in sequence so maybe the highest number will be the total, MMAL wont care a lot as this is a Chrysler car and they probbaly dumped anything with Chrysler Australia on it a loooong time ago.. Try parts book and look for somethingh like "".... from chassis number XXXXX to XXXXX" you might get the highest number there (look for a 2 door specific part)
Now who wants an A57 GSR????? there may be one on the market soon. :z

Hi fellow hardtop owners.
I think I may have found a supply of hardtop windscreens.
I expect them to cost me about $193.00 maybe cheaper if we order like 10 or so, but I really don't expect that, lol. Obviosly you can have them for the same price plus postage if needed.
Please PM me if you are interested in buying one as I will need to try and order as many as needed. I don't need one but will be buying one to stash away in the shed for ron, lol
