Club registering a 78' GE Scorp

Post by MyToyGE »

Hey guys its been a long shile since I have been on here as the ol' girl has been asleep in the shed for a few years...
Kinda miss driving her so thinking about club registering it...
Any of you guys club registered your rides... What club did you get affiliated with?
Issues with midifications (mine has minimal work done now, almost standard)
Is it worth the hassle?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Depends where you are, Victoria is very good club rego. Pay around $75 and get 45 days Club rego, you can pick any 45 days in a year and do whatever you like. Depending on the club you chose as to club requirements/attendance. In Victoria you even have the option of 90 days rego for something like $120. You do have to fill a log book out before you drive for the day, in that you put trip details and date.
There is a big variety of clubs to join from classic to hot rods and everything in between. We have a 78 Scorp on club historic rego, works well.

My wagon hits 30 later this year. I have a mate with a Falcon on club rego.. but the restrictions on use would be a killer. I basicly take it for a spin everyday. You can do that when you live in the sticks

NSW is a bit tight on Historic rego.
Car is allowed "Period Modifications" depending on the club you are with depends on their take on that.
Not all car clubs do Historic Rego in NSW, first year is $135ish and about $85 every year after that (includes CTP insurance).
You are allowed to drive it to any events on your car club's calendar, just need to shoot the club registrar an email first to notify them.

However NSW will be trialling a 30 and 60 day log book system pretty much the same as Victoria over a 2 year period, starting last month I think.
Its optional to opt in for it and allows you to drive your car for any 60 nominated days in a year, not just for events on your clubs calendar.

Where are you located?

Mini Mopar is now on club rego.
My other car I just sold (Ford XB) had been on club rego for years.

It's great if you're not driving the car flat out and the 90 day option will allow for it to be driven EVERY weekend if you wanted to!
