NB: called CamTech and the only 4G32 cams they do are #1 and #2 (maybe 3 if ur cams in fantastic nic) but they wont Hardface Weld anymore because "it takes too much time" #1 and #2 are $198 for regrind.
Just thought ppl might want to know.

That is just CamTech though. The specs are there and if you take them along with ur cam to another place they might do hardface welding and regrind if your serious and want to pay the money to get it done.
There are pleanty of other cam shops around.
Cheers Matt

........lots of cam grinders around, but they usually have their own grinds and wont do someone elses as you need a master to make one, their master is their grind, thats why a No 5 for the 4G32 (Mitsubishi no. 5 not no. 5 in a list) is so valuable, you cant get it ground on your cam, same with Mits No 4, anything bigger than Mits No3 needs a billet, or welding, which are expensive and hard to find.

Lol, my custom cam for my 4g63 SOHC Stroker is wilder than their stage 6 by a fair bit.... Aha should be fun.

Most places don't take the time to check your engine specs/expectations and match the cam.
BTW:
What material are cams made out of?
Cast steel? cast Iron?
Reason I ask is I have acquired a CNC lathe and I don't see how hard a billet would be to make.
It's an old lathe but still good..
Cheers.

Re: AFTERMARKET CAMTECH CAM SPECS - SATURN - ASTRON - EVO
umm i think they are cast steel. peter waggot knows his stuff and grinds the cam to suit your engine, cheap, reliable, good workmanship...

They are in Alstonville, far north coast of NSW, in between Lismore and Ballina. It's my old stomping ground.
Cheers.

i dont think the trick is in making the billet but more in the metallurgy.
Re: AFTERMARKET CAMTECH CAM SPECS - SATURN - ASTRON - EVO
Id say limited mods are up to a small turbo application. You're going to be much better doing some research on cams and seeing what sort of duration would be suitable.slugma wrote:Stage 3 requires limited mods, wot the hell are limited mods???

Re: AFTERMARKET CAMTECH CAM SPECS - SATURN - ASTRON - EVO
I have a number 1 on the cam of my GC.. Did all GC's have #1
Re: AFTERMARKET CAMTECH CAM SPECS - SATURN - ASTRON - EVO
I've got a billet 30/70 in my 1600 from Peter waggot nice and lumpy
N/A ALL THE WAY
Re: AFTERMARKET CAMTECH CAM SPECS - SATURN - ASTRON - EVO
How much can the #1 can be worked/modified/grounded.. I want a lumpier sound and a bit more pull.. What carbs are ideal for daily driving also? I'm not trying to be stupidly quick or anything, just want a tiny bit more poke
Re: AFTERMARKET CAMTECH CAM SPECS - SATURN - ASTRON - EVO
32/36 webber carb.. Some extractors and a 2" exhaust. And a very mild cam should be enough
