my gb
Re: my gb
So I finally got a day to do crap yesterday
I managed to get my boot done in body deadener and gloss black, repair my spare taillight (first one was fubar), and put the lock and rubber on the boot. All that's left on the rear is the bumper, which I'm polishing up before hand.
Then I set my goal to get the door mechs in and working by the end of the day... Well, I got 2 done
The rear door was being a stubborn bastard! I'd open and shut the door, lock it, and then it wouldn't unlock. Felt like it was fouling on something... After putting it in and out 4 times, turned out it was the external handle adjustment.. was adjusted that hard that it was trying to open the door, which won't allow the lock to come up...
Got that sorted and it was too dark.. Hope to do the other 2 this arvo after work
Also.... When the bloke put the doors back on and "re aligned" them.. He had them adjusted too low... Chipped my fxxking paint!!! now I gotta pull the guard off and do it myself.. Then he can fix the chip.
Anyhow, that's my small update for now

Re: my gb
So today I decided to get into the wiring loom... Take off all the old coatings (tape, spiral wrap, etc), clean it of all the old oil/fuel that's got into in over the last 41 years... And re wrap it all...
I also got bored while trying some wheels on for fitment... And did this
They're 15x10 -26 rears, and 15x8 -3 fronts.... Just for a laugh...
Also no wiring pics sorry :/ got too dark

Re: my gb
Been getting in and doing crap on the old girl
So far I've got all the front end dropped out, and pulling it all apart. I'm repainting everything and replacing everything. I've got the lca's stripped now except where they mount to the x member (don't know how to get that out ). Going to clean those up tomorrow and repaint them
Yesterday, I got under her and went over everything. Still as clean as the day she was built so I went over it all with seam sealer/body deadener/rust protectant (black jack ). Let me just say. It's not wise to do in board shorts! I recommend you hire a space suit and do it in that still picking it from my hair
Anyhow... Thought I'd update y'all
Oh... And as expected... Pics! (Well, 1 anyway )
Also... Got another parcel coming... I'll keep this one up my sleeve... For a long time! Until its in/on/around the car

Re: my gb
I've payed for my parcel should be here in a week or two!
Also cleaned up and painted my lca's and the bit between the strut and ball joint, that joins the tie rod to the strut. Meanwhile I stabbed my hand with a chisel and managed to get... Dizzy, as I was cleaning parts in fuel for an hour and a half!
Just waiting on tie rod ends at it can all go together again pics later.. Just realised I didn't upload them, and I've run out of time on lunch y'all have to wait

Re: my gb
Ok... Finished work.. So I'll let y'all have some pics
I forgot to mention that I painted my thingy! (The grille/hole in front of the windscreen ).
Then I got into this
This is what 41 years of shit looks like
And now it's all cleaned off!
That's what petrol did... Wasn't good
And the paint stages (primer)
Final stage
Much better! All ready for my new parts

Re: my gb
I've been getting in and doing things on her lately.
Restored parkers are in
Restored headlight buckets in
Snapped a bolt
Sealed the rear guards
Just waiting on my new parts and I can put the new struts in and have her rolling around again!
Checklist for future parts;
Rebuild the BMC
Rebuild calipers
Fit suspension/brakes
Then I can get the engine back in and running hoping to have most of that checklist sorted by the end of the week

Re: my gb
hmmm, interesting.. just went through the previous pages and it seems you took everything possible off of the car except the front guards. now that it is all painted you decide to take them off.. this is usually one of the first things I remove and inspect behind. hope you don't ruin too much fixing it.
