engine colour?
engine colour?
Hi all,
Just curious as to what everyone's opinion is on what colour i should paint my 4g32... obviously black looks pretty good cos that's what they are standard. im interested as to what other people have done, colour wise, in the past..... was thinking of going with a red but I'm not sure if i will like how it will look...... the car is painted hothouse green.
fire away,
cheers,
Dave

Silver is pure porn!! This is my sexy Saturn!
This is to go in a yellow gb... Red and yellow go well hence the engine mounts... Gives it a sportier look also

Yep keen eye! It's my brothers TA torana 2 door.
And I don't mind you painting yours silver... There's only so many choices of good colours, someone else has surely done a silver one before myself
I'm also polishing the rocker cover, with the yellow lettering to match the car

Sounds good I mite give the red a go (seeing as I already have the paint) I can always paint over it later if I don't like it

Ah... Watch doing that... I did it with my struts... Ended up with paint crack and the red came through underneath... It's a bitch to cover!

Re: engine colour?
I think if you're chasing an old school look use something like a hammer finish paint. I'd aim for either the green or blue - IMO it gives the engine that 'old school mechanics shop' look. The hammer finish grey/charcoal gets lost in the engine bay and wouldn't stand out as well. The red...? Dunno how that'd go. Can never go wrong with gloss black. Wrinkle finish over a rough textured engine block would defeat the purpose as you'd want it to stand out (however wrinkle black rocker cover + timing cover and new nickel plated bolts and washers is the shizzle ) I recently did my first ever satin extruded finished rocker cover and hit it with that coloured anodised paint (blue). It came up o.k. for a first try even though the nozzle spat a drop of paint as I was laying my final coat over it
