Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
I have recently acquired a set of throttle bodies from a 4AGE blacktop and plan on fitting them to a modified weber manifold.
My biggest drama is how to adapt the injector rail to the manifold, and also is there an ECU that will do EFI only as I am running an electronic dizzy that has been modified from a points unit.
HELP

Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
Your best bet is to use the Toyota manifold and make an adaptor to suit your head.
Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
What engine are you planning on using them on. I know jamie with his twincam 4g63 coupe up here has a 4age manifold and throttle bodies with just a basic 10 or 20mm adapter plate. The holes line up pretty well for that configuration to clear each manifold face.

Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
They are going on my 2 liter Escort( Don't ban me Dave ),but if they appear to work better than the webers,I will do the same mod on a 4G32 for my hardtop.
Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
I dont have either manifold here to compare ATM,but my main concern is port size and spacing,as my weber manifold is a perfect match to the head.woops wrote:What engine are you planning on using them on. id look into a megaquirt I if you wanted a cheap fuel only ecu and you plan on tuning it yourself

Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
you can get extruded fuel rail in lengths and you just put the holes where you need them
can also get weld on injector bungs
everything you need can be found here
http://www.efihardware.com/products/c66 ... and-Mounts
as for a fuel only ECU id just go a microtech LT4 its $795

Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
If you had Silvertop bodies I'd suggest you do something like below, however, the distorted exit of the blacktops wont match the adapters. The adapter, with the silvertops are the same length as webers. I got these a few years ago and I can't remember the cost, but I got them from http://www.hitechmotorsport.co.nz/ht_parts.html . They may have adapters for blacktops so drop them an e-mail.

Dwlee that looks like an awesome setup.
What computer are you using to run it?
So the sliver top 4AGE motors are the way to go....do these bolt straight onto the weber manifold or is the plate where the injectors screw in to the after market piece you bought?
Cheers Matt

You need to adapt the throttle bodies to the weber manifold, weld in injecter bosses to the manifold and build and instal a fuel rail

Or just do what I did..
Modify a Magna manifold and Hayabusa or GSXR 1100 throttle bodies and you get this.
It's fairly straight forward to do
You could even use the extra injector port in the throttle bodies for water or NOS injection.
Cheers.

Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
@Rally_2.6LC, Thanks. This setup was to go onto a gto, but I decided to keep that one stock as it is too original and build another gto with a na dohc 4g63. I was going to run them with a Link g4 storm, which is now going to run the 4g63. The adapter is a casting that contains the injector bosses and bolts directly to the weber manifold and a pair of throttle bodies bolt to the adapter using the standard throttle body spacing so the only linkage you have to change is the centre to join the two pairs. So effectively an adapter and two throttle bodies take the place of a side-draft carb. The fuel rails are made from a Supra fuel rail that I found in pickapart. I have heard that there are two types of silvertop throttle bodies, one that is perfect round and another that is slightly oval, but not to the same extent as the blacktops (I have never seen these myself).

GTO with 4G63 twin cam and throtle bodies. NICE
dwlee, there used to be a candy apple red GTO with the flares molded into the body and on a set of Simmons in NZ. I was just wondering if you knew if it was still about? From the photo's I've seen of it, it looks to be a very nice car.

The engine is a dohc 6bolt block, amg high compression pistons, with either an rvr head (front cam angle sensor) or a 4g61 head (high compression). Initially with an evo 4 inlet manifold, but the long term plan is to go quads.
I assume the candy apple red GTO you are referring to is the one in this thread http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewto ... eed#p40682? This car is still registed, but isn't on the road at the moment by the look of the registry details, but I haven't seen it for a while. I had a look at this car when it came up for sale not long after the turbo motor conversion in 2005. It certainly looked good from a distance back then and drove very nicely, but the conversion still needed a little sorting out. The issues I had with it when I looked at it were; that it didn't have certification for the engine conversion, the inner and outer rear wheel arches had been cut under the flare and not sealed properly and the paint was starting to bubble in a number places.

Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
That's the one.
Shame they went turbo. I think the perfect engine conversion for the GTO in my mind is the one you have gone with. It's a modern day version of that show car that had the R39B twin cam race motor that Mitsubishi teased everyone with.

Re: Toyota 4AGE 20V throttle bodies
That GTO looks hot, and I agree a GTO with 4G63 quad throttle body injection would be the best (N/A).
Scott would it be better to use the injector ports on the manifold or the throttle body? Was thinking about this as manifold would inject it further into the cylinder, but throttle body would allow it to mix with air better before entering the cylinder.
(PS I will still bug you for a set of these later, i love them and much cheaper than MoTec gear )
Cheers Matt

Manifold for fuel, throttle body for water/NOS.Rally_2.6LC wrote:Scott would it be better to use the injector ports on the manifold or the throttle body?
The reason is the fuel can "fall out" of the air and puddle in the runners if it is too far away from the flange,
but if you are using NOS or water, it will be able to cool the air more (making the air cooler/dense) if it's placed further away from the inlet flange.
Not a problem. I think I may have a spare set..Rally_2.6LC wrote:(PS I will still bug you for a set of these later, i love them and much cheaper than MoTec gear )
