Temp Sensor

Post by kenaida »

Hi all,

Not sure if this is a huge issue, but I'd like to still see if there is a solution. 2002 2.4L Galant. When I first start the car, the temp gauge jumps to the middle right away. This happened even the next day when the car has not been driven. I don't think the car overheats because the fans do work. Anyone have any suggestions or similar issue at one point?

Hi dude, I'll take a stab at diagnosing your malfunctioung gauge problem. First, does the gauge move at all after driving? It's basically a voltage gauge so it'll read whatever power is passing through it. I'd be looking at replacing the sender unit. And it operates independently from the thermo fan circuit (this has it's own sensor). Good luck!
