Aftermarket ECU for turbo 2.6
Aftermarket ECU for turbo 2.6
I am weighing up the options for turbo 4G54 and top of the list are a LT-10 Microtech or a Haltech E6X.
Can anyone advise me on which would be better?, and a recommended tuner in the Brisbane/Gold area ???...The local tuner actually said Autronic but it was going to cost an arm and a leg.
Cheers!

Re: Aftermarket ECU for turbo 2.6
my old sigma was running the haltech e6x. it was installed by previous owner so im not completely sure on what maps it was running etc but i didnt mind it. the only bad this was when it was cold it idled like crap. but im told most aftermarket ecu's are quite common with that. my wolf ecu does it in my new car. but it could be due to the computer, or the maps it was running which made it run rich or idle wrong, i never bothered to get it looked at. food for thought....
vrooooom vrooooom!!
Re: Aftermarket ECU for turbo 2.6
Thanks blokes I got email back from Haltech they said sprint 500 will be fine after explaining my application...it was abit wordy, the Microtech one was way short!...both around $1090 delivered.
I heard "cold start" can be a prob for the best of tuners....shrugs shoulders !

Im running a MoTec m4 with a ignition expander, Took a few hours to get tuned but hasnt let me down since. And yes cold start is a bitch. Def looking at a Autronic SM4 for the next project. My theory is why skimp out on one of the most crucial components of your cars running gear?

That pretty much sums it up.
How much has the tuner quoted you for the Autronic?
I believe most tuners will try to steer you toward what ever they have had benn trained or had the most experience with.
But i also believe that that is the best way to go.
If you have a local well known and reputable tuner with lots of experience with a certain brand and make,
and you trust them.
Why not use that product.
No point in the tuner being trained on Autronic, and you choosing, Motec, and then he has a go only to blow it up on the dyno.
No warranty on the dyno.
At the same time you dont want to have to travel 2hrs to get to a guy that is trained on how to tune your computer.
Because it will be a pain for any little teething problems or any time you want some thing checked or changed.
Its much easier when you are in a large city, Melbourne, Brisbane... Id say Sydney, but they dont build up performance cars they build hairdressers cars with a Sparkle paint jobs, body kits and big wheels) LOL just kidding
My LT-8 is enough to run our basic Turbo set ups.
It came in the car and my local tuner specialises in them.
So i have no reasn to change it.
But i know there is definitely better computers out there!
LT-10 would be a good step up, but compair the 2 and you will find that the 10 just has more features, many of which you possibly wont be able to use.
Re: Aftermarket ECU for turbo 2.6
I have a Microtech MTX8 with LT software installed running my GK Turbo. Only on really really cold mornings do i have possibly start it a couple of times. Every other time i just turn the key and she runs.
