help identifying these wires please

Post by kirkstanton »

ok there are 2 wires left from my galant after pulling appart  i know theres a general rule to LABEL wires when you unplug them, but me being 20 and a smart arse decided NOT to label them.

so one of the wires was found with all the old stock carby pile (ring on the one end and flat electrical plug thingo on the other)

the other one was found under the car, from the transmision maybe? (this wire has one bigger loop on the one side and one smaller loop on the other)

heres some pics:

top one was from the carby pile, the bottom one was from under the car

thanks,
kirk

P.S could this be the reason why my gc wont fire? :banh:

Not sure where they go mate, but I would guess by the large holes they are earth leads. The top one looks like it goes from the back of the engine to a tab in the centre of the firewall??

Bottom one looks like the earth wire from the gearbox to the chassis rail.

colta51 mentioned this last night as well in the chatroom.

Yep, what they said. Short is block to firewall, and long one is chassis to gearbox mount.

Just a tip, next time you strip a car.
Label everything, just in case it takes a while to get back to putting it together.

If you would have done this you wouldn't be having this problem.
