Km119 disassembly - Help!

Post by HeistClub »

1978 Dodge Colt wagon with 4G54 and KM119.

Long story short: the car sat for 14 years before I bought it, some diy (previous owner, not me!) silicon bushings crumbled into the transmission making it impossible to shift into 5th and reverse.

I'm trying to disassemble the transmission so I can clean it out and rebuild, but I'm stuck. Trying to remove the extension housing and it's running into the 'change shifter' (where the shift lever joins the control shaft).

How do I remove the change shifter? Or how do I get around it?

What am I not seeing?! Does anyone have a guide, something with visuals, that can help me with this?

There should be 2 grub screws on the side of the housing, under a dob of silicone. They limit the throw of the shifter. You will need to remove them to be able to remove the extension housing.
MAKE SURE you measure their depth before you remove them as they will need to go back in at the same depth.

Cheers.
