4G Engine Questions

Post by Ubean »

Hi everyone,
just got a few technical questions :)
I've been running an old 4g32 galant 4 speed in my clubman for a few years now and are after more power.
1) Will a 4G35 or 37 head bolt on a 32?
2) Will a 4G63 or 64 bolt on the 32 4 speed?
I have a nissan s15 spec r sr20det engine and 6 speed box I could use for a conversion, but don't feel like chopping up the old girl to make her fit. I still really enjoy the noise of the 4g32! xD Just wondering what road I should take -.- Get more power out of 4G engines or convert :/ ???

Yeah, I'm not real keen on cutting them up, but I suppose depending on what outcome you're after (and what you can get your hands on) it's the only option.
What sort of car do you have by the way?
Oh, and welcome to the forum

Hey mate! Welcome :) I'm not sure about the heads. But about the 4g63. Sohc ones are a mix and match of wide block and narrow block. So depends on which one you get. I think the dohc fwd ones are narrow. But again, you'd have to read the link to know for sure :)

Cheers,
Mick :)

Dave, I've read that topic about engine upgrades. It has no point about a sohc na g63 from a rwd setup. But possibly that is covered by the starion engine? Already rwd, still the same block. But it would be handy to know what box can be used. I'm almost certain they're mix and match. Just a lucky dip so to speak

So you can bolt a 37 head on a 32 block xD Probably a bit hard finding a 37 now days :/

are all the narrow block bell housing patterns are the same?

The car is a Locost Clubman like a kit car but made from the ground up from different parts etc. I track it on weekends so don't have to worry about rego and restriction :)
