Event list forum??

Post by Scorpma82 »

Hey guys, just had a bit of a thought

Is there a program where we can setup some form of calender to list future events ????

Maybe have the calender setup away from the threads itself......

Things like the cruises that occur, maybe someone is competing at a rally and lists those events, we could find the big events like Chryslers on the Murray....and try and get a good amount of people to go.

So basically when ever someone shows interest in an event, they maybe attending (and our cars qualify for that event), put a link on the calender and try and organise a couple of people to go

Who knows, if you get the events listed early enough, you may enough time to finish off the car, get time off work, budget for the event or whatever the case may be

Imagine a dozen or so of our cars at the Easter(Commodore)nats???...........for eg

Just a thought, nothing else

I also approve, we could also add swap meets and the bigger car shows.

You can add what you like as far as events go

You could even colour code them with blue for cyrsler dedicated events, red for mitsubishi only or white for either

I also like the idea. I use a couple of sites with in built calendars very handy.
This site is great for swap meet updates http://www.bevenyoung.com.au/car.htm

I dont know if this site is registered as a car club, but if it is, you can organise hill climbs and time trials etc. Get the road temporarily closed for the event

being a car 'club' in multiple states, u may find that the club rego would be impossible as the rego laws (and pricing) are all different according to what state.........

Alot of the bigger car clubs (usually the classic ford and holden clubs) all have divisions in any particular state.....so they can get the club rego

closing a section of road is a LOT of work and red tape
better off entering an event someone else has set up

and Scorpma82 - it's actually pretty cheap and easy to hire a racetrack.
ring the track, ask if they hire it out for private track days, ask what you need to do, get a price.
get a few mates and mates of mates together, say 15 or 20
divide cost of track hire by number of mates
collect money
ring the track, book a day. weekdays are cheaper.
go to the track on the right day with your mates
nail it
win

back on topic - yes, calendar sounds good
we use one on the sa celica forum and it is handy, but people tend to actually read the Club Cruises and Events thread, or the Other Events thread.
if anyone is going to an event, they post it up in Other Events so others can enter too, or come watch.

As Damo said it is a good idea but how much use will it get? Maybe if we could have a banner style notice across the page listing the following weekends events from the calendar?
