Hi guys,

As i'm sure some of you are aware now....i like doing things....just to be different and love doing unique mods on cars.

My theory was:

could you fit rear sunvisors for the rear passengers.....have them sit up into the ceiling like at the front and only swivel down to cover the top of the window?


Any feedback is welcome

I think it would restrict rear vision through the mirror too much

no they wont sit accross the car like the front ones.....

they would sit along the window of te rear passenger compartments

Maybe but I still think it would create a blind spot when changing lanes.
Gotta ask yourself why out of the 4,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 cars designed and built this has never been done?

but why dont sedans have a rear wiper when wagons, hatches and coupes do??????

if i were to put in a reason (for both examples) it would be cost......pure and simple

why is it that every model ford (since the E in 1988) "IN BASIC TRIM" use solid rotors...despite the cars getting bigger, faster, heavier and more powerful??

If u look at the specs of the commodore....the VE is the 1st model to use vented rotors in the rear....ever!!! (again, in basic trim)

But even if u moved away from cars,

Why is it with all the songs and movies that have been created.....fresh new ideas still become chart toppers and box office hits??

How is it with all the houses that have been built....someone still managers to put in a feature thats fresh and new???

I get your point but I must argue that is has been 10 years since I saw a movie or heard a song that wasn't a rip off, mash up, mix, or old tv show.

i've seen 2nd gen Renault Scenics with built in roller blinds (semi opaque) on the rear doors that you can pull down. Awesome idea i thought.

I think this is a pretty clever idea

I cant see it being a blind spot isue, well no more than the glaring sun that they will be blocking anyway

My first ever car a 1960 Morris Oxford Series 5 had pull down awnings on all four side windows.

Laser Ghia Sedans, and some Honda Accord Sedans have rear wipers. This issue is not just price, it is the boot space taken by the wiper motor, the wind speed / turbulence tries to lift the wiper while driving, and unlike a hatch / wagon the vacuum created behind the car does not exist, meaning that cr@p does not collect on the glass as you drive.

I like the idea, however an additional hurdle is that ADR require nothing hard be able to be hit by passengers. So what / how will it be hinged as to not expose the hinge to occupant contact in front or behind?

at 1st i thought of a similar hinge used in the front sunvisors.

but all i've done is actually stitch up the sunvisors in black velour....i won't losing out on much (should the idea fail)

obviously i'll have to look at the roof properly to see where i can mount the brackeet.....with a bit of luck.....it may just 'fall' right on the support beam.....got no idea yet

But if the ADR's were to get in the way, they'd need to have a good hard look at the rule book......i rather hit my head on a padded sunvisor then have my head go through the window and against some c@nts grille

yeah I know there is at least one model lexus that has shades that extend from the door trim, but they are mesh

Rear sun shades were an option on lots of Japanese VIP's, like the Nissan Cima, but as tubby said they were mesh. They also extend up front inside the door not down from the roof, therefore not becoming a head injusy issue.
