Did my 1971 GA come with lap sash front seat belts?

Post by 71GA »

Hey guys just wondering if anyone could tell me when Galants started to use the modern 3 point style seat belt vs the lap sash style. The reason i ask is because my 1971 GA is fitted with three point stlye belts but the top mount is fitted to the grab handle mount above the rear doors, my old 1972 GA was fitted with three point belts but the top mount was mounted to a B pillar. Any help would be great, Cheers

Are they both GAs, or is one of them an early import Colt AI (ie. does the older one have separate vent windows in the front doors) ? That might explain the difference.

Alternatively, 1972 was the GA/GB changeover year - so it may have been a production run change ? (GB has belts mounted to B pillar)

The 71 is a GA. I had another look and the car doesn't seem to have a female thread in the B pillar so it wouldn't surprise me if your right about the 72 production change.
