TP Magna Mags into Sigma GJ-GN

Postby Cottees » Fri Jul 16, 2010 10:29 pm

Does anyone know if the factory mags from a 1990 Magna TP would fit the Sigma GJ-GN? I am thinking of getting a set, but want to make sure if they'll fit. They are 15x6, so what is the widest wheels I could put on those rims?

This is what they look like :

They will rub on the strut on the front. Have tried them at U-Pull-It.

They are front drive offset so they will bolt straight up to your hubs but the rim will sit too far in. So it would touch your front strut and narrow the track of your car up so much it would look silly, and make it handle worse. With the use of spacers you could rectify it though.

Anyone the laws relating to use of spacers?
Isn't it that the bolt on spacers with another set of wheels studs legal, but the narrow ones that just pack the wheels out using the same studs illegal?
Being front drive offset wheels, you should be able to use the bolt on style spacers and be legal, if the above rule applies?

I saw these wheels fitted to a GB Galant years ago. I thought they looked really good on it.
I seen them polished and I've also seen them with the faces of the spokes polished and the recessed parts painted.

Being 15x6 I would say the widest you'd put on them are 205's (I have 205's on my 13x6's, some tell me they are to wide), I don't know what tyre sizes are available in low profile 15's.

I am glad I asked before placing a bid.

I would rather the Simmons B45s, but they are too expensive at the moment. Like this auction. These ones would also have the same problem though.

I want to have at least 15" wheels. Pepper pots are one option. I don't mind them, but thought about trying something different.

I saw a wide body Celica the other day with standard width wheels. It looked really silly.

I remember seeing something about spacers being illegal in SA. Might have to look into it again.

After asking, I did some googling around and read someone saying on a Commodore forum that you could get 225s onto them. 235s would fit, but would be detectable. Not too sure how reliable the info was though. Even so, 195 on the front, 205 on the back would be ok.

I was thinking about about going there and having a look. Now I have to find another excuse to go. Maybe to try and get a Scorp diff.

There is a GE Sigma on eBay at the moment with these wheels.

Probably using spacers though.
