Another new project......

Post by A112H »

Okay, so I have secured a deal (subject to finance, lol) for the purchase of a long desired 70's Mitsubishi project :wut:
Sadly I don't have any pics to share yet so I will keep the model and all other details under my hat for a little while but needless to say I am super excited.
This one is going to be a full JDM factory stock rebuild, in the end it will look like it just left the show room floor, exactly like the brochures is the plan

Anyway, I thought I would start a slightly premature build thread to get everyone's thoughts flowing (H)

Would your old user name give anything away by any chance Jas? ;-)

If so, Good luck with the purchase you lucky SOB.

I wish it was anyone of those cars you mentioned Scorpma but it is not and no I don't have it yet, just finalising the deal but the handshake has taken place, lol. Then it is a day trip there and back to collect it.
How ever it is something I think is just as cool.
I have bought Ben's A53H hardtop

This is a factory GS shell and that is how I am going to keep it.
It will be as close to factory fresh as it can be, with safety in mind a few small items will be updated like seat belts and strut tops.
This is what it will look like when done but I am unsure if it will be white or orange

Either way it will be a very long build, might not see the road for 3 or 4 years.

Good luck with the project mate! Ha ha, better you than me. I've lost motivation lately - find it hard enough changing a wheel after rolling a tyre off the farm cars these days :)

Cheers guys.
As I said this won't be a quick build but it will be a complete build, I am talking absolute bare shell on a rotisserie build.
Having said it won't be quick I have already started collecting parts and ordering others, lol.
The R/H rear 1/4 is my biggest concern and it needs far more work and skill than I have. Ben has a mate who makes replacement panels from scratch so hopefully I can get him to do some work for me.
Other than that it will a be full JDM spec GS
4G32 1600
Twin side drafts
5 speed
Stock wheels, Colt Hubcaps if I can find them
All JDM lights, grill, mirrors, console, dash, seats and so on. I even have a cunning plan to run JDM number plates :o

The only things I plan on being upgraded or after market will be, extractors, cam, mild exhaust, seat belts, strut tops, GH front struts and brakes.

Anyway, it will be a few weeks yet until I can collect it from Ben so we will have to wait for more pics or any progress, oh and one more thing .... ummm .... I still haven't told my Wife (H)

Very nice Jas. I still think you're a lucky SOB then. It looks like there is going to be quite a bit of Galant parts on their way across the Tasman then.

It's ok, I'm sure the GC will keep you warm at night.

So pick up has been delayed, by me :( So I will be collecting it on the 8th, pics from then :)
I have decided on Sunfire Orange for the paint, this was a factory colour for the A53H's and will look pretty smart I think.
Here is an A53C GTO in the same colour

Good colour choice Jason. I think they look great in the orange. I'm looking forward to watching this build.
