1. To make a deep, resonant sound.
2. To grow, develop, or progress rapidly; flourish:
Sounds good but where are the pictures?

Pictures probably next weekend. I have new/old door cards coming this week too. Would be good to show an update with these, the repaired guard and rechromed bumper corners. Dreams are free............

Love what you're doing w/ your GD! Call me ignorant, but I'd never heard of an 1850. I think all OZ cars were 1600 / 4 speeds. Noticed a few other differences, too: slightly different front bumper (OZ GC & GD hardtops had indicators in the bumpers) & the steering wheels & centre consol also vary from what I've seen here. Go for the Superlites! My brother has some on his MGB & I reckon they'd suit a hardtop really well. Looking forwards to seeing the restoration unfold.

The steering wheel is from a GTO. The standard wheel is the same as alot of yours. Looks like in going to be busy with photos next weekend although I do have a big tree to cut down and completely cut and split for firewood.

My mirror set up that isn't quite right how it sits at the back. Any ideas?

Later this week, maybe tomorrow my rechromed bumper corners will arrive. Exciting times ahead and with a bit of luck one brand new looking front guard as well fingers crossed.

Bumper corners arrived yesterday. They look better than new. We filled up the hollows where the mounting backets are spot welded on so they are smooth as. Sunday I will reassemble and also reinstall my dash cluster to see if the rev counter goes.

These were not sold in NZ by Mitsubishi, they were imported or assembled by Todd Motors. They used the 1850cc 4G51 Astron engine and were badged a Colt Galant 1850. Or so is my understanding.

Thats right. Interestingly enough, on the registration papers and card that goes inside the windscreen, it is called a Mitsubishi Galant however there is not one badge on it that says Mitsubishi.

It seem's criminal that I haven't updated this in nearly 3 months. Not too much has been going on other than saving money.
I talked to an auto upholsterer the other day for some prices including the difference from vinyl to leather and I was pleasantly surprised.
Only $200 or so difference to get a pair of front seats re-trimmed in leather instead of vinyl so leather it is.
I am back doing a bit of wheeling and dealing to make some extra coin for this. I don't want it to drag on when it comes to panel and paint.
It will be a matter of fronting up with the car saying I'll see you in two weeks and you will be paid cash, get it done!
So to summarise, in a holding pattern really at the moment. Saving more dollars then I can see alot happening in the space of 2 months all going to plan.

2 cars brought and two cars sold. Another $1300 in the bank fairly quickly.
Went to my regular trade Panelbeater for work the other day. He asks whether my Mitsi was finished yet?
I said "Have you seen it come here yet".
"No"
Well, neither have the Painters. Not far away though although I am thinking of getting all the seats retrimmed in leather soon.

Well it's been a while since I updated things here.
We moved house just over a year ago and the car hasn't bee touched until last week.
In our new town I have met a retired Panelbeater who is related to me who said he would look at the car after he had finished some other projects off.
He came around a couple of weeks ago and said it was my turn so a week later he picked it up in this state.

Then a week later and it was done.

Some poor rust repairs taken out.

Another poor rust repair removed.

And yet another poor repair fixed.......

Plus the corners of the bonnet fixed, they weren't that bad.

So finally I am keen on this again.
MOre updates to come as things happen. That will depend on the finances as I haven't got the panel bill yet.......

Hard to believe it's 2.5 years since I first posted this on here, slow progress aye.
Have to post more to get the page views up I guess.
Seats will be the next to get done as all I have to do is deliver them and pay!

And still it drags on.
I changed job's 6 months ago. I used to sell cars for a living so wasn't able to do on "on the side" as it was a conflict of interest.
However since leaving that job I have been on a wheeling and dealing frenzy!
Bank account for the car looking much better so now time to start looking seriously at this old beast. More so now that it has turned 40 this month so qualifies for cheap registration.
Going to start rebuilding and painting parts for the seats before sending them to the upholsterers and pull the old motor out to start prepping the engine bay for paint.
