getting started on my GSR

Post by GSRSYNDROME »

Hi all just joined up recently and thought i would introduce myself. have owned my 1984 gk gsr since i was a teenager and am now in my early thirties.
it is the one car i have owned and never had the heart to sell. car was originaly white but gave it a full re spray bout 4 years ago, engine is pretty stock but all that is changing soon . Scorpion diff conversion new shocks and springs and treating the old girl to a turbo. getting married next year and the car will be at our wedding should be a sight . not sure how to put pics up on this yet but ill get there. no doubt ill hit a few hurdels along the way but am looking forward to the challange

cheers tufsig. ive had six sigs and a scorpion but the first one is still my favorite hence why ive still got it. it was white like yours but bowed to pressure from my mates to paint it black. its a bugger to keep clean but the blue interior is a nice change compared to all the stock brown interior black gsr"s

planning a blow through set up for the old girl, scorpion diff conversion, getting pepper pots polished and another re spray. got just over a year to do it as getting married sept next year.
going to be running a gt28 turbo via intercooler to a boost referanced holly 350 . Not going for a street machine just a bit of extra punch prob bout 9psi. still lots of bits to get for it but have most of what i need to get started. the car has full power pack, steer ac pwr windows central locking ect and a pretty healthy sound system consisting of pioneer subs amps splits speakers ect and a momo melenium steering wheel so dont need to toch the interior to much .Will put up a bit of a blog once i start getting into the fun stuff, with any luck this weekend will be the first time the spanner will touch the car

i had a look at injection even have most of the gear to do it but want to be a little old school on this one most people go down the injection road and i agree it is the better way for chasing horse power, but im a little bit differant lol will see down the track what happens though never say never. Not sure if many have opted for the holley blow through set up before and i can tell you most of the people over here in adelaide think im mad but hey if thats the worst they can say i think im doing ok lol never come between a man and his sigma

yeah price was ok $420ish including freight. its a pretty good looking unit still going to be close would better suit a sigma with no power steering but compared with trying to track down a good original manifold or a custom built one im happy with it

its been a while so i thought i would put a bit of an update on here
slow progress on the gsr
:replaced the valave guide stem seals with the head still on , thanks to 84gksig for the help with that :)
:replaced the con rod bearings after finding slight wear on the originals
:tracked down and installed a t2 to t3 adapter plate as the treadstone manifold is a t3 and im running a t28 turbo
:standard scorpion diff flange now been modified to accept the BW tail shaft
:oil return point installed to sump

with any luck this weekend i will start plumbing the turbo
