LC Lancer SR20

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let anyone interested know how the extremely long term build of my LC Lancer is progressing !

It is about 4 weeks away from top coat paint at the panel shop .... and about 6 months to assemble etc.......

So xmas 2012 is a possibility.

On a personal note - I have separated from the wife ..... cars etc.... can really take up alot of time a strain marriages
So really really need to finish the car soooooon and probably sell the house etc..... and move on with life !

More progress finally - Had the car painted last week and it is now safely in its new home for me to continue the next phase of building "the dream".
Fortunately, my new partner is excited about the project and helping/supporting the "finishing off" of her

The interior will continue with black/blue/silver theme
I've had that before with my Torana - so I know it will be really cool

Trying to spend one night and one day per weekend working on it to get it done.
It's getting there and once I get the engine back in, I'll feel alot closer to the finish line (even tho it will still be some time away!)

WHEELS - I'm looking for some 16 or 17" x 7/8" wheels in 4 stud sigma pattern.
Sort of retro style with polished rims and probably black modern "hotwire" sort of spokes !
If anyone has any suggestions, let me know

Yes, that is along the style I'm looking for ..... and even simpler with less spokes (easier to clean )

Thanks for the link, I will keep them on my favourites.
I notice that there seem to be quite a few 5 - 10 offset wheels there ..... which seem to be very hard to find here with new wheels (most around 35 offests)

Yeah, most new wheels are designed for FWD and AWD cars and they tipically run +35 to about +42
Lots of the new RWD cars are adopting this too, cheaper manufacturing costs if they can use the same steel wheel on all models with different hubcaps.
Most of the wheels from otomoto are out of Japan and are designed for older RWD cars.
Unfortunately Australia doesn't have the market to warrant companies making retro wheels, new ones can be found on eBay and the like out of the US for pretty cheap.
You would get these on your doorstep for under $800

Those Ebay wheels are "exactly" what I'm thinking of .... and a zero offset
I just have to work out if they fit now !
Being a "new" wheel, I should be able to get them over the next 6 months when I can finally work out what fits under the guards

Did u build the rotisserie your self? Or is it a brought one? Just curious because I plan to do similar things with my lc when I get to it

I borrowed the rotissorie from work. I can get close up pics if you want ??

Btw - the balance point for the pivots were "perfect" and I could spin the car 360 deg with one finger ..... so that was nice too !

Build is coming along slower than I would like being only able to spend a certain amount of time on it.

Drivetrain is in and I'm working on all of the wiring for both "old car loom" and the "new loom" for the fuel injection.
Hoping to have the engine "started" maybe in a couple of weeks (with wires everywhere like spaggetti) ............. and then I will go back and tidy and make the looms up and hide them under the guards etc....

So plenty to do and it looks alot like I'm getting know where - but 0ne by one I'll get there

Then I'll start on the interior - fit and wiring to the stereo, and have the trims made up

Sweet nah don't worry about pics for the time being. cheers though. It mounts through the existing bumper brackets holes yeah?

nuh, wouldn't mount of either end bumper holes unless you want it to fall down !

Mounting at the front picks up off crossmember and then the bolt holes below radiator that mount the caster link bracket.

rear picked up off bumper mounts - but I would not recommend using them neccessarily (as the panel is very weak and will twist). I would try to concider something better and more structural like chassis rails or pick up the brace on the inside of the car that runs between rear wheel tubs .... to support and stop the "twisting" of the bumper mounts.

The rotisory had a length of 1" rhs running front to back to stop the legs/wheels "spreading" .... which is what the rear bumper mount wanted to do !

Can you fill us in on what brake rotor you're using and if you made or bought that caliper adapter bracket?

If made or bought, can you give a little more info on it?? That's exactly the kind of brake upgrade I've been looking for.

Hi guys,

I thought the wiring part would be pretty quick and easy !!
How wrong was I
As much as it is straight forward hooking up wires, running them to the correct spots from all corners of the car and joining back up to original connectors etc is probably the hardest thing I could have done. Anyway, the engine bay is almost all wired, taped and hidden etc ..... and then just need to lengthen the ECU wires (about 20-30 of them) from the engine bay to the ECU mounting position in the rear quarter. Beleive it or not, the Air Cond isn't sorted yet (waiting on a mate to finalise switching circuitry etc for that), but in the mean time I have plenty to go on with !

Brakes - all the pics can be found on my photobucket links. Basically I'm using twin piston Magna front caliper (TS I think) with Scorpion discs which bolt straight onto the Sigma uprights. The Caliper adaptors are ones I custom made (machined) and took alot of tweaking to get them into a suitable location
The rears are standard GE Scorpion disc/calipers.
I'm not going to run a brake booster (no room) and the master cylinder is aprox 2007 vintage Nissan Pulsar.
Will see what requirements needed for front/rear balance once the car is mobile.

I might take some pics this week of current progress

So it's a n/a? I couldn't see a turbo, unless its a low mount manifold??

Yep it's a NA - was meant for my sons 1st car when he turned 18 (P platers can't have turbos) He's 21 now and not getting it !
It will be my daily or weekend driver / cruiser so not interested in outright performance !

Brakes - no room for booster so will just see how that goes "boosterless" . Might just need to stand on it harder !
