I haven't done much on the Lancer in a while, but she had to be moved for a while.
Image

Poor girl needs to be put back together. Will probably leave the Lancer in her current home till the end of the year, and work on the head and the GN in the mean time.
Image

Even while being sitting for quite a while, the bores look to be still good.
Image

Went looking for some parts for 84GKSIG in my shed, and noticed that my spare Lancer centre console is falling apart.

Thought I'd get the Lancer's head out to do some work on it. I pulled the rest of the valves out. The intake valve guides look to be ok.
Image

Cylinders 2, 3 and 4 combustion chambers have a slight lip from the valves smacking on them. It should be ok to grind it down.
Image

Lousy intake valves. Thinking they are Michael Jackson.

While inspecting the head, I noticed that there was a hole in the #4 combustion chamber.
Image

I started to grind away to try and get rid of the hole. It ended up being deeper than I had expected. While continuing to remove the hole, another one popped up just above it.
Image

Kept sanding away, and BAMN! all shiny.
Image

Can see when compared to the #3 chamber how deep the holes were.

Wake up! Wake up! You're dreamin' ,girl!

Done some more clean up of the combustion chambers. #1 is almost done.
Image

The only problem is the casting is pretty bad.
Image

All of the cylinders are fairly even now. Needs some more work though.

Finally got a look at the AC that someone installed into the Lancer. Since the blower fan is behind the centre console, it looks like they have converted a blow through AC unit to suck through.

The casting on the Lynx manifold doesn't look that great.

A bit of sanding, and it looks better.

Perfect timing since I'll be moving the Lancer back under cover and doing some body and paint work fairly soon.

Hmm.. I may be interested in those door cards. The mirrors I got set from the US. They came off a GTO from what I can tell.

Might be the wrong slant angle then Cottees: I think Galant, Galant GTO Lancer and maybe also FTO used a 60° angle. Celeste should have 45°...

The eBay auction listed them as first as GTO mirrors, with Galant, Celeste, etc. at the end of the description. So I assume they came from a GTO, or the seller might have been told they were from a GTO. Either way, they are the right angle, and that is all that matters. :D

i understand the confusion, they all look the same and the difference in angle is rather small.

When you are lucky you have on the inner side of the fender a marking where they should come...

Hi, just a question.
Ive just gotten a 1980 Celeste 1600 ST and I noticed earlier you had a workshop manual for it you considered scanning.
Did you ever det around to that and would that be possible to get? Ive had no luck finding 1.

btw I rather like the 2tone color on yours.

I've learnt the hard way that it's a bad idea to leave a project car sit in the open. After sitting out front of my place for a while, then major storms lately. Was prepping the car to move her under cover, and discovered a pool.

Image
Image

Also found some mould too.
Image

Since we had some sunny days, I left her open during the day to try and dry her out.
Image

Now she is around the back under cover. I will be able to start working on her soon. Just hopefully the damage isn't too bad.

The first work I have done is to remove the filler that was covering a hole under one of the side rear windows. I suspect water was still getting in via that. This time I will be cutting it out and welding in a new piece of steel.
