A lot of rewiring is going on lol, I'm replacing the chassis harness in the front with a GVR4 front end harness. Rather than working with the iffy original harness for adding in the wires and relays for use with quad headlights, I'm just going to replace it all with a bit fresher wiring that isn't so corroded. It will also have all the relays and plugs for the fan, horn and length for moving the turn indicator and parking lamps to the GD front bar.

Rest of the engine gaskets and components to finish the longblock will be here between this week and next as well as the turbo. :D So with the motor and drivetrain essentially done (minus driveshaft and trans crossmember)

Here's what's left
- Gauages - Speedhut Gauges
- Wiring
- Fuel setup
- Intercooler Plumbing
- Mount and Plumb Radiator
- Flaring and installing New Brake lines
- Install Wilwood Brake/Clutch Assembly
- Starion Front Suspension
- Exhaust

Exterior wise after the car is running and driving
- Work on installing GD Bumpers and GC tails
- new weather seals
- fender mirrors
- fabbing up mounts for quad headlamp conversion (for my GC Hardtop Grill)

Got some motivation tonight to do some wiring harness trimming , in this particular case it's a HH Galant VR4 front end chassis harness, that will be replacing the stock harness. Then a whole interior interior harness to match that front end harness. I have both the interior and engine bay fuse boxes with both these harnesses. It could be easier to go entirely custom, but i feel like keeping it semi OEM, you could say :).

Got the VR4 front end chassis harness deloomed and labeled. Deleted the front ABS sensors, AC stuff, which the AC relays were also the Fan relays I believe, but I got painless fuse block that came with the modded g63t harness, so I can use that for wiring up my Radiator fan. It's not like I was going to use stock GVR4 fans anyway lol. A couple plugs (LH Corner lights and a Chassis to ENG harness connector) I have to repair as I somewhat cut them apart thinking they were apart of the AC, DOH! For the Chassis to Eng Harness connector, I had to go through the Circuit diagrams to find out what wire is for what, labeled them then cleaned up the work area because obviously I'm tired and making mistakes

Mainly using this harness for when I complete my GC hardtop conversion (Dual Headlights > Quad lights and the GD bumper lights). Still got an entire interior harness to go through and trim all the accessories I don't need out of, but that's another day when I'm not tired.

Even if it wasn't directly on the car, it still felt good to get something accomplished! The interior harness, will help for when getting the GC Taillights on, because the US Colt Galants have the turn signals integrated into the brake lights, just like how the amber tails on my wagon are just for looks, the turn indicators are in the same wire as the brake lights :wut:. So to correct that...!

R154 fits so well once you actually remove the hump portion of the floor plan lol. Trans mount is pretty close to stock position, but not close enough! Also thought I was going to need a short driveshaft/propeller shaft, I actually need a longer one than stock, with the hilux diff, it is actually going to need a shaft a couple inches longer than stock lol.

high def pictures later.

Cutting the the trans hump out, that was my only problem since the KM110 is much smaller than the R154 and even a KM132 at that lol.
Image

Image

the stock cross member has to be repositioned to suit the new trans, it's a few inches off from fitting. Nothing a little bit of making/welding our own studs on won't solve with the current holes in the frame supports on either side.

Probably going to angle the motor a tiny bit just for the tailshaft to clear and we don't have to cut the cross frame sections.

Hmm...really? I didn't upload the higher quality pics on here :\.

Only sits this high because of the crossmember is mounted into the stock position for the 4spd, need to move it back and create a piece for the trans mount placement. Other wise it only sits a few mm higher than the cross support beams, which I'll still need to lean the motor back a small amount to clear.

Turbo mocked up, requires a new exhaust manifold (for wastegate)
Image

yeah not so much room back there, leaning towards just moving the thermostat housing up front.

Jason, you can probably see now, it's gonna take some fab skills to fit the GC tails on

Yeah looks like a fair job for the lights.
If you do move away from the stock thermostat housing do not buy one from JayRacing. It is a good quality part but it doesn't fit, everyone has had to cut them and get them adjusted and re welded. Even going back to 2009 I have found forums saying they don't fit. I wonder why he doesn't just change them his end?
Anyway rany over, lol, looking good mate

Been looking up rear disc conversions lately, not a whole lot out there for the 5 lug rear axles, more custom stuff it looks like! Though the one thing I have seen is a OZ RA21 celica owner used Cadillac Seville rear calipers (I want a cable ebrake) with SVO Mustang (2.3l turbo fox body) rotors and custom brackets.

Hey Jason I used the Jayracing thermostat relocation kit and I didn't have any problems with it. I had to use a half round file to take a little edge off the Welsh plug hole but apart from that it went in ok. It's fiddly and you have to chop a fair bit of of your front timing cover to make it all clear but mine worked a treat.

The benefit of still having the '77 Shell? I can test fit things when i'm not at the shop where the Coupe is at. Put the Starion pedal on the stock mount bracket, now to see how well it bolts up. If it doesn't work out, I'm going to need to request one from over there!

Got a L200 trans crossmember that I can Modify to suit both the supra trans and the car! Just a tad wider than the Coupe's, which makes it easily adaptable. Drill new holes for mounting and new holes in trans mount spot. Now unlike the stock crossmember or a Starion crossmember, the tranny bushing mount is offset trailing edge of the crossmember vs directly in the center of the crossmember.

Most of you more experienced than me guys probably already know this, however for newer members wondering.

Galant Transmission Crossmember: mounts to frame rails
L200: Frame rails - only a few mm wider side to side, but enough metal to redrill holes
Starion: mounts right next to the tunnel = way too short.

Also got pretty much all my 5 lug stuff for the front, just need some flatty Starion front struts, will use the widebody ones for temporary reasons (roll around shop) and a L200 throttle pedal.

Slowly getting back into this car :).

5 lug swap completed, just need to get some camber plates to correct the positive camber from the widebody struts. Thought I was going to have to swap ball joints, but nope! The stockers fit perfectly, however once the car is actually ready to be driven, I need to replace the balljoints, tie rods, idler arm, and center link/drag link.

Left side still needs a coil cut on this side to match the right side and sit right where it should with a lightened front end (dummy block and head with trans bolted in only).

15x7 +12 on the rear and thinking the fronts are the same offset or close to it. No markings anywhere on the wheel to indicate offset that I could find, just size oh well.

No more g63t swap, was going to do a g52b swap, but being that I have g54b in my posession currently, that will most likely be going in now on top of i have a trans for it :). I got pretty much everything to put the car back together now though, gotta get a pedal assembly, brake master, and GT cluster (tacho), out of a 74 GT near me :).

Longtime revival, ordered up coilovers, 4 link and watts link parts. Early next year we will finally see this car back on the road to an extent with at least the suspension completed. Got a engine sitting on a engine stand currently that just needs all the gaskets and seals replaced then I can drop it in with a Tremec T3550 5spd transmission.

Going the Nissan S13 knuckle and hub route for the front instead of the starion struts I had on there before, so the coilovers are S13 front with AE86 Corolla rears.

Funny how its been musical engines with this car, the engine of choice is back to a g63t, but fuck it, it's going in this time as I do have more g63 parts sitting around than Astron parts and 2 of my cars already run on 4g63/64.

Taking the 20g off the Starion to put onto this car after i install a garret GT3076r onto the Starion lol. The 4g64 in the stazz will be happier with a bigger turbo ;).
