Well the Gally got off to the exhaust shop safely, unfortunately they didn't finish it today so it will have to spend the weekend there. I gotta say it is pretty weird, this is the first time in 7 years it hasn't been under my roof and I am kinda nervous about leaving it :wut:
Sadly it has messed up my plans for the weekend, I had intended to have a good crack at getting it running but that will have to wait until next weekend now.
I will get some pics on Tuesday of it on the hoist so I can see the exhaust.

So apparently the exhaust is a bit harder than they first thought and it wont be done until tomorrow. Bit of a bummer, I am totally motivated and hate sitting around :(
I did get some good news today though :)

Nah, it will get done today and I will pic it up this afternoon. That gives me a week and a half to get it running and strip it again. I plan on painting it over next weekend (15th-16th) then two weeks for re assembly and I am done (H)

So it has been a very exciting day in my little world :)
I find this message in my inbox
Import Monster is in the process of organising your shipping. For your reference, this item is in three packages, the first is 123x62x29cm and weighs 9kg. The second and third are 58x56x90cm and weigh 14kg each.
The Monster has confirmed your local freight costs and will ship out on the next business day, provided your account is up to date.
So might see my seats on Friday

Then I get a call that the Gally is all done.
I only have a few pics but the guy that did it for me took a heap as he did it and is going to email them through.

Then I get home and find a heap of goodies arrived :)

Looks like it is going to be a busy week in the shed (H)

Lee, yeah I am getting pretty nervous about it now. After all this time and money, what if it is crap or I don't like it? lol

Yeah I know there is no gasket, it is all getting pulled down now for paint. There will be a gasket when needed :)

I hadn't really thought about it to be honest Mick, I was going to use the 0ga only but not all the way, I was planning on using it as you did but all 0ga.

Nah never too much

Only trouble i had with the 0ga was crimping the terminals, the ones i got were tough buggers but i got there
another thing i like to do is heat shrink the terminals and about 25mm of cable, i do this to all my crimp terminals as it gives the joint some support

Yeah, 0ga it is then, lol

Got the message today that my seats have been shipped so should see them Monday.

This weekend is to rip the engine out, clean and paint the engine and box.
Weld mounts to diff, clean, paint, get new 'U' bolts and fit.
Fit new nolothane spring rubbers.
Clean up front cross member and steering componants and paint.
Sort out 0ga wiring and connectors.
Weld up mirror holes in the doors, badge holes in boot lid and prep for paint next weekend.

I will supply pics and updates as I go.

Well I didn't get to much done this weekend after all.
An overview;
10am Sat. Dogs annual check up at the vet.
12pm Sat. took gearbox to carwash and degreased and pressure cleaned. The guys said "you can't do that" problem was I just had, so I guess he was mistaken
2pm Sat. At the speed boat club for practice for my sons boat licence.
5pm Sat. BBQ dinner with friends.

9am Sun. Cook breakfast for Wife and son.
12pm Sun. Visit forum member.
1pm Sun. Help mate move some shit, I think I am the only one with a tow bar. Bonus, he has a great compressor that I pinched for a few weeks :)
4pm Sun. Went over gear box with cleaning agent, primed and painted. Made up a few earth cables.

It has been a busy weekend but didn't achieve much with the Gally and it isn't going to get better in the next few weeks.
15th, annual boat scruiteneering.
16th, Strathalbyn swap meet.
22nd, prep and run test the boat.
23rd, next race meet for the boy.

I guess I am going to be busy late into the night after work, I still want it done or close to by the end of October :)

Got my seats today, ................................................ :D Soo exciting (H)
They bolted straight in perfectly. Only issue is the rear back rest is a little narrower as the GTO's had different side panels. I think if I cover the wheel arches in a padded vinyl no one will ever know. Either that or see if I can get some GTO rear trim panels.

Image
Image

I have also made up some cables. 1 earth from the battery, 1 earth from the gearbox and 1 positive from the battery.

Image

The positive isn't finished and I haven't made the engine earth because I need to wait until the mechanicals are back in to make them the correct size.

Those GTO seats look really good in it, you lucky bastard Jas. The gearbox also looks good but not sure if it will always stay that colour.

Cheers guys. I am really happy with the seats, they weren't cheap but worth every cent.

So I finished the initial sand of the body tonight and sprayed some hi fill where needed. I will sand that tomorrow afternoon and undercoat on Sunday.
After some sanding of the undercoat during the week I should be ready for paint next weekend, fingers crossed 8-)

LOL, yeah pics are always good. I will take some tonight while working away :)
Got my brand new rear seat belts and hangers for the front today
I am hoping to get the hi fill finished tonight and the body in undercoat, it is going to be 27 tomorrow and 31 on Wednesday so should dry out nicely and be ready for paint on the weekend.
I am really excited about painting it myself but crazy nervous about f*cking it up (H)
Anyway, time to get outta my work clothes and into the shed :)

LOL, yeah, everything will be moved away. I bought some drop sheets on the way home tonight so should be able to seal the shed up pretty tight when painting time comes.

Pics;

Hi-fill all sanded smooth and ready for undercoat

I bought some retro stickers too;

Old school service sticker, they even have the details on the back. I bought 5 so I can use them at services

And this old school dealer sticker is excellent, I love it
