Cheers dude, I will have to come for a cruise and show you sometime.

A fair few people know of this car across various forums from its hayday. Think its been around for ages. One slight comfort to me is that this is the 2nd 4g63 engine so its not the "original" one been hammered up anzacs back in the day. Plus the fact ive had the head redone so should be fairly reliable. Im also hoping now its changed colour i can start it on a new journey of appreciation more than people remembering it for the old owners and how they treated it.

Yeah good points Ken, new beginnings. And now we'll all be able to say "we knew the bloke that originally had that car painted black back in the day" :)

Hey Ken,
You around town for the next few weeks or away with work? GB_BB4C and I are trying to get a good cruise together. Ideally if we could get you, Shifta in the turbo or GSR, my hardtop, GB_BB4C's hardtop, tubby in the Scorpion or Panno, cottee's and 84GKSIG all in one place at one time it would be awesome.
I think early December or early January would be great.

Went for a cruise tonight with my mate with his wrx and another mate with his vr4. Thought we would get a few quick pics of the galants together.

And i also managed to get my hands on an already polished rocker cover. it was originally my mates and he sold it to our mechanic years ago. he still had it so i got my hands on it. will finish cleaning it up properly but its a good base

Look up Sleeka Spares on Facebook. They are in Adelaide and post them to you. I thought they were going to be actual plates but it is plastic. Still happy with them. You get to choose the lettering on them and whatnot.

somehow developed a bad oil leak recently.

so booked in for friday is to change oil, fix leak, flip the rear leafs back and raise rear end, and bleed brakes hoping to fix sponginess.

also enquired into changing the welded centre out of my diff as its a high priority for me. got some leads to follow up on in regards to this.

Inspired by seeing some other old cars out and abouts today me and my housemate also got our cars onroad for a quick espy cruise and few pics. got some decent looks from people which is gratifying to say the least

Managed to score these on Ebay. Fairly stoked as i stumbled across them with only a few mins to go. Impulse buy but ive always liked them and they are reasonably hard to come by. Especially in this condition. No tears on side bolsters, but does have one 2mm cigarette burn, and missing one reclining lever. But im still stoked. Will try put them in on the weekend or something.

Ive also had the brakes sorted so i can actually stop now, fixed oil leak, service, and raised the rear end an inch. No more riding bump stops etc. Its such a nice ride now. Love driving it more now. But now looks funny with the size tyres i have. I want to move the rears to the front and buy new ones for the rear but they are new tyres so dont want to waste them.

Good Good.

You need to toss that wheel to the kerb and replace it with at least a Lancer Hatch wheel.

Lancer hatch wheels seem hard to come by Dave. Everyone wants them :banh:

Are they a dished steering wheel same as my sigma one?

I was trying to make it all look original styles for the popo. But with the seats now that theory is out the window anyway. I had a momo wheel on there for a while, then a deep dish one. The problem is that i like deep dish wheels, but with a boss kit and a deep wheel it sits to close to your body.

Cheers for positive comments and feedback

One of these

They have a round boss kit/base (for want of a better description) that matches into a Galant/Lancer column perfectly. Unlike the Sigma ones that have a square/rectangle boss kit/base.

Seems so?
I have an old wanted post for one, a guy messaged me while I was short of coin asking if I wanted one. He sent pics, it was immaculate. I forgot about it for a while then 6 months later found the message again. In that time he threw it down at the dump :banh:
Makes me think I didn't have to offer very much to get it at all?

Please, for the love of God don't wreck this rad little car by putting FR17's on it. Any 17's, for that matter.

Love it mate, looks fantastic

the great guys at Gtek automotive at lonsdale did some great work for me over last few days for an awesome price.

fixed thrust bearing rattle
replace exhaust gasket and re-weld mounting bracket
supply and fit new HD clutch
new gear shifter bushing

drives so much better now. the exhaust has a much healthier and quieter note, and gearbox feels much tighter.
great work for anyone down south adelaide needing work done

ok had another drama in the galant the other day. was driving at harbour town and went over a rough speed bump in the carpark. about 10m afterwards the car stalled, then smoke came out from under the hood near the battery. pushed it into a carpark and popped the hood. we came to a near certainty that it had shorted out somewhere, yet i still had dash power, and the fuel pump still priming. engine would turn over but not fire. eventually found a fried wire running out of the ecu fuse. following it back realised over time since installation, the wire had been rubbing against the bracket that holds the throttle cable. i guess the speed bump was its last bit of life and it gave way. found a wire in the engine bay not needed and borrowed it and cut it into the system and removed the burnt one. luckily we were able to dodge it up good enough to drive home.

so just a heads up for folks to double check your wiring protectors are still in place to prevent this. if it fried my ecu somehow i would have been screwed.
but will make up a new wire tomorrow and put new wire protector on.
