your telling me pete, blame it on the carby  i took it for a drive today when i was there.stopped and took off in first then cracked second, pretty much skated till i backed off,so i guess thats a good sign.. :P its just running like crap on idle?

yeah this is the last time im going to maztech man, they seriously keep blaming someone else and dont want to take no resposability for anything whatsoever? tomorrow its getting out of there no matter what!
dvsfin wrote:if it is your plugs I would be worried about how lean they are running it :P haha
yeah i thought that aswell, but he said that all the flooding and trying to get the thing started might have fucked the plugs? they took them out though and they seem to be fine?? they kept asking me coz of changed the plugs in which they first put in there, what plugs did we have in it before?? they had normal ngk and i put better denso plugs instead and still they reckon there no good??f@#ke if i know? :\
TUFSIG wrote:I can recommend some tuners that have worked with astrons if they are messing you around
cheers for that bro, once i take it out of maztech tomorrow and its still running like crap on idle ill give you a buzz? please tell me your not talking about chris at dalton? :P

just thought id add, before when i was at maztech i failed to notice the dyno sheet laying there on the passenger floor.my first power figures that anthony told me over the phone were 187.8 kw on 10psi,which i now know was actually wrong??the genuine power figures to my suprise are 194.0 kw on 12psi..and that was some bloody good news for a change  ,still doesnt deter the fact that its running like crap on idle?

more of the parts getting put on the car....
Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

a little more good news for me,took the car for a good trashing today to see how much better it really is..noticed that the boost gauge is reading about 7 or 8 psi ?? i thought the gauge was faulty but i put another one in and the same thing? i called maztech and asked them how much boost did they really run on the car and what boost gauge were they readind when it was getting dynoed?they told me it was running 12psi but my car isnt hitting that range at all?i think while playing around in the engine bay i might have accidentaly touched the boost controller and brought the boost down? im gonna turn up the boost tomorrow and see how she goes..
the car is turning the wheels no worries in second gear but i just want to see how much more she has.. :D

just a quick question? does anyone know were i can buy a fuel sender? my petrol gauge isnt working and i assume its the sender..ive called bursons and repco but they dont stock anything? i was told to test if its the sender,to connect positive to one of the earth wires from the existing sender, connect them to the gauge and see if it reads full tank, then its the sender? correct? is there another way to test if that infact is the issue?

You got a multi meter? If not you can pick up a cheap digital one for under $15. Set it for ohms (resistance) and check the gauge from the back of the instrument panel (when you're testing for resistance the meter isn't sensitive to polarity so it won't matter which way you hook it up)- if it shows no reading then the internal circuit is broken. Unplug your sender and do the same. Don't try to do it with either unit plugged in or it'll try to read the whole circuit. If they check out o.k, then there's a fault somewhere in the wiring loom. :banh:

if you disconnect the sender it should read either full or empty, if you earth out the sender wire it will do the opposite. If it moves the gauge is ok, Sounds like the sender is cactus. Second hand is usually the only option unfortunately. DONT PUT POWER ON THE SENDER WIRE!

Basically the fuel sender is just a wire wound potentiometer.

The wire can wear out but in most of the cases I've come across:

1. The float is stuffed.
Solution: Grab a new/second hand float and install it.

2. The pivot holes or the piece of bent wire the float is attached to have worn so the "wiper" doesn't touch properly.
Solution: Repair the holes OR bend the wiper in a bit so it "VERY LIGHTLY" rubs all the way along the wire windings.

Cheers.

Ive got few of the wound wire cards but as stated it sounds like the pivot holes are worn and the metal piece that rubs on the wound wire card isnt touching in certain spot or spots. When you pull it out you will c what we are talking about. If you get stuck flick me a PM and next time i go to upull it ill grab you a good one if i can find it...
