Yea this paint has a lot of clear mixed into it. So it's really deep to look at. But for just a gloss paint (no pearl/metallic). It shows the different colours through different shades :) it's really nice in person

Been too long for an update!

Car still isn't home yet :\ long story!

Last y'all seen her was first stages of colour... Since then she's had a buff, all the runs taken out, someone punch dents in it and crack all the paint, said damage repaired, reprinted, re buffed, and reassembled the doors, bonnet and boot.

She's all ready to come home now so she should be home soon.. Possibly a week :\

No pics of the said damage, except for one on the c pillar. But I'm not uploading it as of yet..

Cheers,
Mick :)

How well would this go??
Image

It will have a tube off the front that will have a pipe running to a filter box/pod filter... Idea is to get cooler air into her...

You air plenum is a good start - but if you could build it with no tight corners inside, it will aid in reducing the air from bouncing around inside of it. Add a full compliment of ram tubes and ensure there's some kind of drain trap to prevent water from making it into the plenum - and you'll be set 8-)

Great idea!!!

So I'll be putting an X shape in the bottom with a drain plug so all water can run out... Then on the inside I will put rounded corners in the square ones... Or make the final product curved :)

So are you saying to run the trumpets inside the plenum also?? Is that what ram tubes are??

Yup, trumpets = ram tubes. When you set up the transfer pipe from the air filter into the plenum, try to get the pipe to go up on an angle into the front of your plenum (it will help a little in the event of water somehow getting past the air filter). This next tip won't help that much, but try not to use concertina ducting (that corrugated stuff) as a transfer pipe as it will slow down air velocity - and also could fail causing unfiltered air from passing into the plenum. Go for a hunt through the wreckers and locate something off an EFI'd engine. There's a good chance you'll be able to find one that will either be perfect or really close to what you need, and it will look tidy too. Plus the added bonus of breather barbs etc to keep it close to the legal end of the deal.

So what will the ram tubes do?

And nah I don't want that flexi crap! Was gonna run a stainless tube like an intercooler for the wow effect (H) lol

So I want the inlet on the front of the plenum on a slight upwards angle?? I was going for a slight downward and outward angle to help the pipe get to behind the passenger headlights :\

The ram tubes will eliminate some of the turbulence around the inlet ports and improve air velocity into them (same principle applied in road bikes). As for the intake behind the headlight remember, any rain or wash off from the road will make it behind the headlight and potentially into the air box/filter you want to put in that corner of the engine bay (figure out how to prevent water from hitting the filter or collecting in the air box as this will kill your engine real fast). The transfer pipe must have some give in it as the engine's gonna rock off and on throttle. A stainless pipe being held in place with a couple of bits of hose and some clamps could either work its way free or simply wear out the hose couplings (or even damage the nice air plenum you're in the process of building). And as for the angle of your intake tilting down from the front of your plenum to the headlight corner - that is the right idea (my bad - must've had the ill communication :$ ) The downwards angle from the plenum will make it harder for water to travel into.

Yea I was thinking a custom air box with a pod inside... Was also thinking of some silicone hose each end of the pipe, but I'll change that idea.. Most likely find a stock part as you've suggested :)

Thanks for the advice mate! Been a great help

So.. Plan is;

-Finish the paint/body side of it all (body deadener, underbody, suspension/brake/diff components
-Fit new suspension to gh struts. For struts to car with new parts (ball joints, tie rods, bushes).
-Clean the fxck out of the engine bay wiring, pull through into engine bay, recover the harness, run throughout the engine bay.
-Fit engine and box back into the car. Get car running under its own power.
-Send her off the the apholsterers for a new roof lining.
-Send it across the street from apholsterer for a tune
-Bring her back home for fitment of new windscreen and rear window.
-Fit all windows and door rubbers
-Buy new headlights
-Then assemble with all new parts

Few little steps in between, but it's all nothing :) still $1k or so to go yet..
