Story goes....
Bought a gc wagon off ebay for the uncracked dash pad
but it turned out it was too good to wreck, so now im turning
it in to a weekender.
.
At the moment just stock piling all the parts i want to go in
and get little bits and pieces in in order.
.
When i got it home.

Good to see it's still got all the stainless strips up the side... Are you going to keep them on there?
What are your plans for it? (colour wheels etc....)
I suppose you'll be putting a bigger motor in it....

Plans are to do the mechanical sides of things first. I will be keeping the
1600 saturn and plan on running a similar set up as yours, twin downdrafts
and some extractors. As for colour im leaning towards a beige sort of
colour (Still undecided) ad wheels i am always looking for something jap
and 14".
Whilst at the local wreckers today i saw 4-5 galant wagons, one
being a GA/GB most had the chrome trims along the bottom.

The thing that I really like about the GL optioned Galants is the chrome trims around the window openings on the doors, wheel arch moulds, plus the chrome strips up the sides (protector strip). Might I suggest painting your car a darker colour than beige? The darker the colour the more it sets off the chrome work. That's why mine is dark green. The other colours that were on my possibility list were Toyota 'Red Mica' off just about everything Toyota in the early 90's and Dark metallic Blue (don't know the name of that one) also Toyota, same vintage. These colours were common on Landcruisers. I tried really hard to get colours that went with the beige/ brown trim in the car, because I didn't want to change it. The Green/ Red and Blue were my final posibility list colours that I cut it down to, I thought all would have looked just as good.

But then a lot depends on what wheels you go for. I tried to keep mine old looking, I wanted it to look like something that you would see and hear driving down the street in the 70's so it was like being in a time warp. It turns heads everywhere it goes, and on Friday when I left 77galantv6's place, I actually got stopped in the traffic, by another driver, just so he could ask me about my car. Like I always do, I directed him to this site, to look at my build pics.

If you could pic up some deep dish Hotwires or even Kidney mags (I hate them), mine are Cheviot Hustlers, but something from the 70's, it would really set off the car. And the best thing is no-one wants these wheels anymore, because everyone seems to want to go for 15's minimum, so you can get them for bugger all. Just polish the crap out of them and repolish 'em. They look mad.

Just my 2 cents...
Can't wait to see what you do with it...

Kellys wrecker, they have 4 gc/gd wagons and 1 ga/gb.
.
UPDATE
.
I pulled the four speed gearbox out to replace the clutch, Turns out the pressure plate
and flywheel both had some nasty groves in them. So i replaced the pressure plate, got
the flywheel machined and bought a new spigot bearing. Also Does anyone know where
to get new flywheel bolts from? whilst removing mine i stripped three heads and all the
local Fastners dont sell them.
