blasted some more after work - only a bit, it takes sooo long with a 2.5 hp 121l/min compressor.. runs out so quickly. i think i might have to start lookin for someone to do it for me, its gona take me a year of sundays to do it otherwise.. when i could spend that time werkin for the cash to pay for it to be done profesionally
wasnt a complete waste of money i can stile use it on rockercover, block, brake booster, struts and everythin else i buy that needs a clean up, and need the compressor for painting anyway

on that note my plan for a booth is to grab a huge tent from my old work and drive the car in it, zip up the flyscreen and away i go - i rekon it should be goooddd

does anyone know how long you can leave bare metal blasted without primer out in the open for??

Jesus H Macy that's a hell of a lot of rust. Shit of a spot to fix too. But hey, it's got a proper coupe grille!

Makes me SOOOOO gratefull that my coupe spent the last yrs of it's life under a blanket in my garage. Virtually rust free.

Small tip. DON'T throw out your old window rubbers no matter how crappy they are. i had no end of trouble getting new ones from rare spares, the ones they had listed were completely wrong. Essentially don't lose anything off the doors.

I totally agree with the idea of the coupe register. Mods, can we make it happen??

the place i got most of my new rubber seals was at a place in perth called woodsie's london pride windscreen and auto repairs. they are on 12 harold street dianella Ph: was 92728999, now this was in 2002 so dont know if they still exist. Bring in a sample and they can find the same or something similar that will do the job for you. they can also make a new rear windsreen rubber seal from scratch if you bring in your old one as a reference. They also do bumper restorations including straightening and rechroming. Let me know how you go shuggy, if its even still there. Hope this helps you

ok so today i went n bought 4L stripper, paint scraper, bosch grinder, rip disk, wire drill attachment, and GLOVES haha.
scratched up the paint good with the wire bit and flodded the car with stripper..
paint litterally fell off. so in an hour i basically got all of the exterior shell to bare metal :) - just have to sand off the left over smears.
a lot easier than anticipated

found some bog though  boot sumps and around the left hand rear window. not much, just a bit.

car might be comin along after all!

Thats awesome mate. Glad to here.
Now you've just gotta get some paint on it so it doesn't rust.

I wouldn't use an aerosol paint of any sort if you are planning to paint over it with a gun. It might be OK, but if not you will be stripping it all back to bare metal to redo it again.

I even try and stick to the same brand all the way. At least you know it is all compatible and it's one less thing to worry about.

Nice.
Can you adjust airflow on it? If so there will be a knob near the air feed on the gun.

You'll be able to adjust spray pattern and volume.

Play with your gun to achieve a wide spray pattern (a bit over 100mm). You adjust this by adjusting the airflow through the horns on the air cap.
Then adjust your volume so that the paint comes out without orange peel (means just too dry, looks like an orange peel, you'll know what I mean when you start)

What sort of paint are you going to use? Acrylic Lacquer, or 2 pak?

For beginners I recommend Acrylic Lacquer. You have to cut and polish it, but if you get runs or dry spray you can fix it.
2 pak is finished off the gun. So the better you can spray the better it looks. and Vice versa.
