Can anyone tell me the OD of the Scorpion struts? The weld on coilover kit Otomoto are selling is just what I need.
Would prefer to have the 8kg springs but if I have to get the 55mm kit (6kg only) it's no biggie. Can source the heavier springs elsewhere.

Just checked some later 2 bolt Scorp struts and they are 54mm OD. Pretty sure the earlier Scorps and Sigmas are all the same from checking in the past. Galant struts are 51mm OD if i remember correctly.

Thanks a bundle mate :)

I'll be converting some 3-bolt GH Scorp struts (shortened with Camira shocks and the coilover kit) to save pulling the car apart, while I'm at it I'll get the GH steering knuckles shortened around 20mm for some extra steering lock.
I'll have to work out something for the rear, it'll probably just end up being wagon shocks with cut Falcon springs until I can sort something better out.
Brakes, I have no idea. Slotted rotors are cheap, so maybe a set of those and decent pads? What's available to suit the Scorpion caliper?

So I've been hunting through the online catalogues on the Cusco website on the strength of a rumour, and I found something :)

They list these part numbers for older Mitsubishi's:
A164A Galant (GJ-GN):
522 410 A (pillow ball caster- and camber-adjustable strut tops), 12.4k JPY
A183A-A187A Starion
521 410 A (pillow ball caster- and camber-adjustable stut tops) 12.4k JPY
521 510 A (Type-ST front strut brace) 12.6k JPY

Good to know at least one company still makes stuff for our cars :)
These were the 2011 catalogues too, so there's a fair chance they aren't discontinued :P

Seeing as I've been looking at getting some of my numerous Magna steelies widened, and with the exchange rate being so good at the moment, I thought I'd look at some of the D-window steelies that companies like Bassett Racing (who won't ship to Australia, unfortunately :( ) and Diamond Racing produce.
At a little under $380US+postage for a set of 15x8 and 15x10 in whatever PCD and offset you desire, I think it'd probably end up cheaper to do it this way :D

Decided on 8's all round, +0 up front and -20 for the back, with 195/50's. Less effort involved getting an 8 -20 to fit than a 10 +0 :P
Just paid for a GSR rear spoiler (cheers Smithy :) ), gonna see how much work it'll take to get it to fit this thing. If it works, it'll be black.

Late reply, I didn't notice it until now :)
Superlites are far, far better quality than rota/sportmax/xxr etc. They won't tear the centre out should you collect a kerb/ripple strip etc, whereas in my experience the cheap Asian knockoffs will either do that or lose a big enough chunk of the lip to cause a blowout.
That said, Rota appear to be getting better in terms of quality. I know guys who have belted gutters with new (<12mths old) ones and they've held up almost as well as genuine wheels.

Speaking of wheels, I've changed my mind on sizes. Again. Only moved the offset on the rears out 5mm, but still :P
15x8 +0 (4.5" backspacing) and -25 (3.5" backspacing) would fit nicely, I think. Especially with 195/50's :)
I'm looking at US$359+shipping.

Decided I'll actually be going with these, as from the description they're stronger and at US$290 for my preferred sizes they're a good deal cheaper too :)

Found a pair of 14x7 +0 brake cookers for the front of this for cheap enough. Rears I'll either keep looking for a matching pair of 8's or get a pair of the wheels in the post above.
Anyway, I bought a boss kit. HKB Sports III, p/no. OM10. Corresponds to A164 Galant/A183-187 Starion.

You could've at least given the interior a going over with a vacuum and a damp cloth first! Nice wheels (steering included). They'll scrub up okay.

Alright, I know we have a bunch of rally guys on here :P
There's a metric shiteload of gravel shire roads out here, and I have access to three, maybe four properties worth of farm tracks plus a national park's worth of firetrails so I figure I may as well use them (H)
Anyway, the point of my ramble is I want to set this thing up so it's reasonably controllable on gravel. I was thinking maybe a 2" drop, locker, stiffer suspension, a less rego-spec exhaust, maybe a rear swaybar?
Suggestions? Advice? I don't want to run rallies in this thing, just set it up so it's not so much "hoooooooooly shit she's gonna roll!"

I have just under 9 weeks to get this done and on the road, as I intend on spectating at the October drift matsuri at Queensland Raceway.
I need to do suspension, brakes, balljoints, tie rods, shortened steering knuckles, new clutch cable, 4.6's, a pair of 8's with 195/60's for the rear, 185/55 595's for the front and rego and I should be right to go.
